These things are stupid good for $20 even if they need to be replaced every few years. I've bought more expensive earbuds that didn't sound any better and died just as quickly and I've bought less expensive earbuds that sounded like a tin can on a string so they weren't worth keeping until they died.
>>719379081
Old Apple ones felt way better to me. The pod design never felt right in my ears. Only pair I had I traded to a friend for his $20 Skullcandy pair that I already sang the praises of above.
>>719379396
I use speakers too but I'm not a virgin so I wear headphones when my wife is sleeping.
Picrel look absolutely ridiculous but they're comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time and they fit nicely over the PSVR (haven't tried with PSVR2 since that thing is nearly impossible to position comfortably even without headphones). Do a pretty good job at giving the effect of sound coming from further away instead of right in your ear as well.

These are highly analytical and lifeless headphones. They're great for competitive games, but less so for an immersive experience. A lot of people make the mistake that ALL more audiophile headphones are always better than gaming headphone trash, and that is largely true, but not always.

I have separate headphones for competitive games and single player immersive games. Having said that, I've been preferring IEMs lately over pretty much every headphone.

>>719381567
I wouldn't say they aren't immersive, they just don't have heavy bass, which is what we expect from something cinematic. That might make the overall sound feel less full if bass is what you're expecting, but the range they do have is very nicely textured. I'm in an apartment so when I'm not using headphones I'm using bookshelf speakers (Celestion F1 if anyone cares) without a subwoofer, so I've pretty much adjusted to all content (games, music, movies) having that "lifeless" sound. Also you can push the bass with an equalizer a little bit before they start sounding distorted, so I wouldn't say buying these is a mistake if you know what you're getting into.
Of course if money and space are off the table then you're right, get as many setups as you want and play around for any scenario. I keep finding myself tempted to buy more speakers and amps knowing full well I have no good reason to do that before I own a house.

Wondering about getting these one day. Just so i can have a mic attached to some decent headphones. I've already got 'audiophile grade' planars that I've never stopped driving for like 10 years. I tried mod mic solution and never liked it.

It's not like I've gotten tired of my current headphones. I could just get a blue snowball or something.

>>719383518
They're very good. On par with other Audeze headphones around that price, but with "gaming" branding. Just a friendly tip if you do end up getting them: don't expect to be blown away or anything. After a certain price threshold, in the audiophile world, diminishing returns start to kick in hard. You really need to have an attuned ear to notice the little details which most people don't care about or don't bother with.

Another thing is that these weigh around 450g, which is not light by any means. If you come from lighter, cheaper gaming headphones, these will be much heavier.

>>
>>719378110
Yeah.
>>
>>719384531
From what I've heard and read (no actual listening experience), it seems these are quite balanced. Not too analytical and lifeless and not too muddy and boomy. It seems to be a neutral sounding headphone, which is a safe sound, and will mean most people will probably like it.
>>
>>719384742
Hm..means I might have to EQ it just to get the boom a bit back in but don't know if that'll fuck up the rest of the sounds for other songs.
>>
>>719385072
They are producer headphones, so it makes sense they sound that way. From what I've also read, they take well to EQ. One major benefit of these headphones is probably the weight and comfort. They look very comfortable and are only 270g. Comfort and build quality is something Sennheiser is pretty good at.

Hmmm it is convincing. My current grados have their fake leather band stripped off, so it's just a metal headband at the moment and it does hurt my head. But the sounds are great. Huge fan of having a bit of a low/mid bass boost so I'll have to play around with it.

>>
>>719391883
The sound difference is so negligible for the price that, unless youre an audiophile fag with an expensive amp and you have lossless sources to play music out of, theres almost no difference except for "soundstage" which is completely subjective. If you can buy them from somewhere and return them for a full refund after use, you can give them a go but don't expect much of a difference

using sennheiser hd620 on my PC for a month now
out of the box they have a weird middle-heavy sound that i disliked, needed EQ to fix it. now they sound fine. the soundstage is definitely more impressive than other closed-back headphones, the difference is most obvious when you're playing games that place high importance on audio to locate things. the audio in Darktide with HD620 feels like actual 360 degree audio instead of just left and right.

however the sound HEAVILY depends on how these headphones fit on your head. move them just a tiny bit and they immediately sound different. weird

overall i'm not too impressed with them. they're very good but not 300 dollar good

You ARE running them with an amp right? You're not just plugging them directly like some mongoloid?

i'm not an idiot, i have an amp. i just usually like v-shaped audio and didn't like how boxy the hd620 sounded when without any EQ. to someone who prefers more neutral sound i imagine that's great

NTA, but I upgraded from the ATH-AD700 and love them. Though like the other anon said, they feel pretty fragile. But I've already had them fall off my desk twice and no damage (yet)

I have them too but the ring on my DAC is no longer shining that brightly. I think the LED is dying after like four or five years.

For 95% of people SHP9500 are the best open backs and ATH-M40x are the best closed backs
Either get those or the headphones of your dreams, no in-between

Headphones are shit, heavy and uncomfortable. IEM are way superior in every single regard, way better tuning and extremely low distortion.

Depends on how bad your onboard DAC hardware is. Some laptops have insanely shitty DAC chips that will sound like you're listening to a tin can no matter how good your headphones are. Most mid/hightier motherboards will have a sufficiently capable DAC with an external one maybe only helping with interference noise if your headphones are very sensitive.

>No dude you totally need to buy overpriced seinheiser™ or Audiop tehnica™!!!
I'm 100% sure these are bots, it's the same with chairs and how you will get spammed to buy IKEA shit like Herman Miller.

it was interesting seeing the shift from headsets to in ears in progaming scene.
for music, majority of people use in ears, at least in public.
I was thinking about ear pods with aux, because of what you said.

>buy expensive headphones
>they last because they're not made from wet toilet paper

>buy cheap headphones
>designed to break with non-removable cables and pads
>they break every 6 months even when babied

I've had the same $200 headphones for the last 7 years with two pad and a single cable replacement costing me less than $60 in their lifetime. My friends keep buying the same dogshit logitech or hyperx headset every year because "they just keep breaking".
