am I the only person that always plays Bethesda games without any mods? they just feel weird kinda like cheating, what I mean is if you use cheat code one time you will usually use it again same with mods why only install a few why not another one you just found. that's why I prefer playing vanilla
>>719383127i only use optimization and bugfix mods. for some reason, fallout 3/4 run weirdly and have microstutters and weird mouse sensitivity problems. but, all TES games run smoothly out of the box. not sure if anyone has the same problem as I do
let me guess OP, you're a lifelong consoletard who only switched to PC within the last gen or two
>>719383127the vast, VAST majority of players play bethesda games without mods. Probably more than 99% of players never touch a single mod. It's literally the one in a hundred meganerds that do this stuff. Hell, most normies that play fallout or skyrim probably don't even know what the term "game mod" even means aside from a very abstract knowledge that it's like weird DLC.
>>719383526actually I never had a console I'm exclusive PC player although one day I would like to play bloodborne and metal gear solid 4 maybe, I live in shitty country and make very little money tho so buying a console for just two games isn't really that high on my priority list
>>719383127>mods are only cheatsYou've never installed anything to make them harder? Look better? Fix bugs? Optimise performance?
>>719383778this is not what i meant
>>719384123It's precisely what you said though, you said it feels like cheating to mod the game.
>>719384164I THINK he means "cheating" in the sense that he's not consuming the game in the way the artists intended, taking the "easy way out" by avoiding the parts he doesn't like. It's stupid but also kind of makes sense.
>>719384164I meant that once you install one mod there is no reason not to install another, just like with using cheats, it's autistic i know but that's how I feel
>>719384281That's uh... An unintuitive way of explaining it. I'd analogise it as being similar to browsing tvtropes or anything of that nature, your modlist can balloon out really fast if you let it. My Skyrim folder for example is something like 50 gigabytes worth of mods, a lot of it HD textures, but I get what you mean if that's what you're saying.
>>719384281Weird autism you got. I honestly dont know how you can play full vanilla. Your computer is either perfect and runs Fallout 3/4 perfectly somehow or you’re too blind to notice the problems
>>719383127Most bethesda mods ARE glorified cheats.>Bro this mod is awesome it adds a whole new roster of guns to the game for you to craft! Are they overpowered, don't spawn on enemies and don't even fit the lore?>Bro how did you know that!? Well what about this mod which totally overhauls the combat system?Let me guess it makes the game into a cock and ball torture simulator where you die in two hits and enemies have ridiculous stats?>BRO ARE YOU SOME SORT OF WIZARD HOW CAN YOU GUESS SHIT LIKE THAT!?
>>719384476I play on old ass i3 and never had any issues with bethesda games, bugs yes but mostly small glitches, nothing game breaking and no performance issues at all, haven't played starfield yet tho
>>719384558>haven't played starfield yet thoYou're better off
>>719384504>new roster of guns to the gameNothing wrong with this, but most modders are bad at gameplay balance and don't do testing, they just pick numbers that feel good. I like to go in and do a little recursive modding for balance passes.>Let me guess it makes the game into a cock and ball torture simulator where you die in two hits and enemies have ridiculous stats?Guilty. I don't over compensate on stat blocks though. Fiddling with the AI is tougher, but much more satisfying. Bethesda doesn't seem to like making AI enemies attempt to flank you, adding that alone makes things substantially more difficult.
>>719384881That's why I just don't fucking bother with Bethesda game mods. Some are genuinely impressive but what's the fucking point when they interfere with the GAME part of the game.Yeah I'm sure somebody likes playing a game that's so poorly balanced that it makes BETHESDA games look refined. But that's not for me.
>>719383127I kinda wanna play stellar whatever
>>719383127You do you bro. Long as you're having fun.
>>719384992The only mod I would say is actually mandatory for a satisfying experience is something to change how the difficulty works. Bethesda's default is pants on head retarded and does shit like reduce/increase player damage by X while reducing/increasing enemy damage by X, so you get an effect on high difficulties where you're tough to kill, but everything else is a bullet sponge.
>>719385097>where you're tough to killwhere you're easy* to kill
>>719385097The dumbest thing about Bethesda games in general is that they're 90% balanced with 10% being complete and utter bullshit. But instead modders decide to just skew damage values by a fuckton instead of addressing specific issues.Like Skyrim for example, enemy mages cheat the level system by having high HP, impossibly high magika and regenerating magika 3x+ faster than the player. They hit like a truck so they don't need the buffs plus it breaks the rules on level progression.
>>719383127I had to install a mod just to fix a long standing issue where your weapon gets stuck in a blocking animation. It was never fixed and no it's not a feature, it's a bug. And then come all the other bugs and annoyances that snowball into a list of over 500 mods since I've already started.
>>719385189>>719385097that's why I unironically think Morrowind combat was the best in elder scrolls games, playing skyrim on legendary difficulty was such a chore
>>719383127>Bethesda games without any modshope you enjoy bugs and crashing
>>719383127Fuck you Todd. I just wanted a real save on fallout 4 on survival because your janky ass game crashes, sometimes consistently on ps4 and 5.
>>719385189Magic mechanics in Bethesda games are just bad in general. You have uhhhh, fireball, fireball but with more damage, fireball but with maximum damage, fireball but area of effect, and so on. I tweaked all mages in my game to have lower health pools, preference summoning shit to fight you, removed short range concentration spells and to stay at range, so they're easy to kill if you can get to them, but good luck, they're behind 7000 skeletons.
>>719385496Magic is just fine in Morrowind and Oblivion. It's Skyrim where it was turbo nerfed for the player but buffed for enemies. The most objective way to play Skyrim is to stack spell absorb and magic resist, because dragon shouts are improperly classed as generic magic so you can basically become immune to anything non-physical with a handful of perks/enchantments.
>>719385584It is kind of funny making yourself immune to magic and playing as a barbarian
>>719385306The absolute cockiness of Bethesda not allowing console commands and saves on demand in any game mode. They really think they're hot shit.
>>719385632I'd think that should be the default as long as it's not Illusion magic that can fuck with their heads.
>>719385858 Exactly. If you're out there shirtless with a warhammer smashing Draugr into dust, you shouldn't be getting flinched by a glorified spark spell. Illusion magic messing with your head? Sure, that's fair game. But getting staggered by a novice firebolt while you're built like a brick house makes zero sense. At least make resistances and perks mean something.
>>719383127You have to use mods even just to fix the games and play them properly. Too many bugs, too many crashes.Bethesda is the Ikea of gaming. Games come in kit form.
>>719388894bullshit, all games are completely playable without mods. if anything mods make the games crash often
>>719383127Anytime I install mods it becomes a rabbithole where I end up trying to completely revamp the entire game and by the time I get my 100+ mod loadlist working i dont care about actually playing the game anymore
>>719389707>100+ modLol. Lmao. That's like a baby's first modlist and you can't even get that working? Fucking brainlet retard.
>>719383127>am I the only person that I'm pretty sure most "gamers" never touch a mod in their life.
