Am I fucking insane or is this game harder the better you are at it? I'm losing my mind because this game was never hard for me, I almost beat it a long time ago but got bored, now I can't get past shit. I don't use saves at all, just the inbuilt checkpoints on pc. I end up playing perfectly for like 5-8 minutes then get fucked by a single enemy, like a random fucking guy will just roll out of nowhere and get me instantly, EVEN IF I KNOW HIS ASS IS COMING HE STILL GETS ME! And keep in mind this is literally at the exact same time frame in different levels, it's like you get 80% of the way to a checkpoint and the game's just like yo fuck this nigga and enemies take you out in half a second. Is this what adaptive difficulty is? There's like four more unlockable difficulties and I have no fucking clue what they do because I doubt the game gets much harder.
It was designed to use savescumming.
Yes, the dynamic difficulty is infamously broken, look it up
Yes MP1 has dynamic difficulty which means the game will adapt to how good you're playing. Play like shit intentionally and die a little and the game will make your enemies aim like a bunch of stormtroopers
>>719383375you need to heavily abuse the dodge frame roll, it's the main tool max has, way more important than bullet time. roll, draw fire, headshot.
>>719383375You got too used to souls “difficulty”. Welcome back to real challenging games.
>>719383375DONT ANSWER THATA RHETORICAL QUESTION
>>719383375The last level is incredibly fucking unfair at times if you did well in the previous chapters
>>719383375>takes a well known mechanic and tries to turn it into a schizo postYou can just also you want to talk about max payne anon
>>719383375Yes, there's adaptive difficulty. But it's fucked because it doesn't go down unless Paynes dying animation fully plays out. If you start dying a bunch wait for the 'load a previous save' message to come up rather than reloading the moment you die.
>>719383375Yes, the Dynamic Difficulty is kinda broken in this game but it makes it better.
>>719383562>>719385927>>719386052Never heard of this and I don'ät believe you. If you die, then the next time you know what's coming and that's why it feels "easier".
>>719386693No one cares if you never heard of it retard. Its real and documented
>>719383375just peak corners. if you jump and shoot like a retard then of course you're gonna get hit
>>719386693Video games have been using shit like rank since before you were born.
>>719383375>op says something that's obviously nuts>it's actually realdamn i didn't know this
>>719390524Lol same I thought op was just being a cock loving gaping retarded mindless faggot but in reality he was actually right haha
>>719383375dynamic diffuculty doesnt reset if you quickload. it resets when you die, quit to menu and then reload. spamming quickload leads to the game thinking you have never died so it keeps ramping up the challenge level.
It's notoriously broken in Max Payne but not enough games have this. MGSV and left 4 dead come to mind but I can't think of any other games with dynamic difficulty.
>>719383375>There's like four more unlockable difficulties and I have no fucking clue what they do because I doubt the game gets much harder. You're right on that one. The difficulty levels in MP1 are Insane/Insane/Impossible/Impossible With A Time Limit.
There's a mod for thathttps://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2807-max-payne-flat-difficulty-vanilla-pc-values/
