Fell into the open world trap. It's no coincidence FF15 picks up tremendously in the linear finale when it drops all pretends of driving your car around an empty world.

The best modern Final Fantasy game for two generations.(And most likely three going by the looks of things)

Perfect mix of fantasy and modern world
The bros all have a definite personality that you can identify
Somewhat empty Open world but you get used to it anyway
Combat system that serves it's purpose. You can make it fun by not using items.
Lots of endgame quests and side missions
Lots of customisation.

Fishing is fun. Collecting minerals to unlock new car paint is fun. Collecting food ingredients that unlock new food that gives combat buffs feel like you live in a consistent fantasy world.
You can run across the shitty open world on Chocobos.
Altissia.
Dungeons.
Upgrade system. Lots of weapons and stuff to collect.
