This game has such a great gameplay premise that is explored surprisingly well. I wonder why it's forgotten?

ran like ass on most computers

absolutely. i appreciate the detailed reload animation. instead of dropping in a full clip every time, like in a lot of games, you add one round at a time, unless your magazine is completely empty.

It doesn't work nice with multi-core CPUs.

it does the best job of any game i've playes of making you pay attention to the story. you cannot avoid it and there is nothing to distract you from it. mogs the hell out of radomly placed audio logs.

great game they dont make em like ths anymore

It worked just fine on my 12 core cpu on Linux.
Hell, I even had few crashes compared to the huge amount I had when I played it on Win 7, especially towards the ending levels.

I had a core 2 quad when it released and it ran just fine

cant believe this wasnt made by the metro 2033 devs. it has the exact same early graphics and ghost people

>works on my machine.
same. i seem to have great luck with games that are supposed to be very buggy. i've never had a problem running s.t.a.l.k.e.r., either. maybe i always happen to find torrents with fan patches or something.
>>
>>719390078
Yuck don't say that
>>719389801
I dunno I patched the exe (nonsteam) with large address aware and it worked fine except 1 unfixable crash near the end cause of some physx error I had to lower the graphics for for 5 mins

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING OOOOONN!?
>>
There's something I don't get about the ending. You get saved at the end by the captain and meet the rest of the crew who you saved in the past with your powers but like why are they still there? The flashbacks were 10+ years ago so they should be long gone even if you save them
>>
>>719393171
The flashbacks happen during the catastrophe and you are supposed to meet them on route but due to the accident there's some time fuckery going around, which you then fix.
Btw the player character is also dead at the beginning due to falling into the water.

Because it came out in that weird limbo period where AA studios were dying off and the big publishers didn’t know what to do with mid-budget experimental stuff. Totally got buried by marketing for shinier games with way less soul. If this came out today under an indie publisher with a coat of Unreal 5 on it, Twitter would be declaring it “game of the decade” within hours.
