spent an hour prospecting to find tin then digging and breaking my pickaxe only to find a small cave with tin in it on my way back after getting 2 new copper picks
do I even need a lot of bronze? I have enough for 1400 bronze should I go back to the tin I prospected and get it?
>>
>>719389647
also I need fire clay to progress now but I don't know how to find it
>>
>>719390085
You need a bronze anvil and a bronze pick to aquire and work iron, so 1000 bronze can be enough. Fire clay can be crafted or found under coal deposits.
>>
>>719390243
oh I did not know you can craft it, thank you so much
holy shit the quern is slow
>>
>>719389647
Buy an advert
>>
>>719389647
You only need enough bronze for an anvil and a pickaxe, after that you can go straight to iron, you should go straight to iron, it's better and more abundant.
>>
>minecraft if it was a shit kitchen sink modpack
>>
>>719391063
what is the point of an anvil? wiki says iron can be worked on copper right?
>>
>>719392173
No, you need a bronze anvil to work iron, you also need an iron anvil to work steel. You can use a copper hammer, but the anvil has to be made of bronze or iron.
>>
>>719392332
ah my bad, thanks anon
now I have an issue, all I can find is rabbits and chickens
I really want boars sheep or goats for fat but I can't find them no matter what I do
should I head north or south or something?
>>
>>719392961
If you want more animals try to find places with more common rainfall. Boars can become aggressive so they're easy to lead wherever you want. For goats and sheeps I tried to trap them but never succeeded.
>>
>>719393124
I found one male boar but no sows :(
>>
oh wow epic the spawn point breaks after several uses? very coo im modding this shit out
>>
>>719394408
It's in the world settings. You don't need a mod.
>>
>>719394857
oo my bad
>>
chickens not sitting on eggs when spooked is annoying me
>>
>>719395971
I think they stop doing that after a few generations? Not sure
>>
>>719395971
They stop getting scared by the tenth(?) generation.
>>
>>719396107
yes, generation 10...
>>
>>719396229
3rd I thought (paternal generation does not matter)
>>
>>719396870
no, 3rd allows slaughter
each gen reduced fear range by 10%
I also tested and solid walls dont work, they still get spooked

you should just go ahead and mine all of the tin, its just more metal you can use in the future even if you are in the iron age. also tin by itself is required for later game things like distillery and some end game story stuff

two questions, can i play in a desert? i want to get fucked over by the heat while the sun is up and freeze my ass off at night. Second question when i build a farm and then fuck off for a few month what happens to the plants do they continue to grow if i walk so far that the chunck unloads?
>>
>>719404462
Yes
they continue to grow as the game simulates the chunk
>>
>>719389647
Just put on Steam devcuckmckike
>>
>>719404462
Deserts are awful for planting shit, temps get extremely high and most plants can't survive unless you farm on the top of a mountain where it's colder.
>>
>>719404654
cheers
>>719404872
thats kinda the idea. being hungry, near a heatstroke and generally just fucked sounds like a good time to me. on that note how bad can heat fuck you up since there isnt thirst does your hunger go down faster or something?
>>
>>719405214

Any advice on how to capture and breed animals? I have 200+ hours in VS, but I've never bred animals. The closest thing I got to was having chickens lay eggs, but they got killed by thunder strike. Three times.
>>
>>719405214
make a greenhouse anon, they're nice
>>
>>719395971
Bro I swear they hear a twig snap across time and suddenly scatter like you threw a bomb. I had a whole coop set up with three nests ready and they just peaced out because I walked too close in armor. They treat you like you’re the final boss. I just started luring them into a 1-block trench pen and sitting there to babysit-works until a drifter decides to ruin your whole bloodline.

>>
>>719406313
you can capture baby animals in the animal traps, a strategy you can use is to trap pigs if they are far from home in a hole by angering them and having them chase you into it
build a trough and breed them there, once a piglet is born trap it with the trap and bring it home
it takes 25 days for pigs to give birth, but they give birth to like 1-5
>>
>>719406560
I'll try. Any advice on not getting killed by thunder?
>>
How can I explore without getting mauled by bears?
>>
>>719391193
i kinda like sevtech ages modpack but vintage story looks like it takes some things too far
>>
>>719407527
I've never had this happen, but if it's such a big problem build a thunder rod somewhere in the same chunk
or build an indoor barn, but make sure it's lit or they will despawn
>>
>>719407932
Animals despawn!? I swear there are years old animals around my old bases.
>>
>>719408113
if there is no light where they are they despawn
>>
>>719408168
If I cover entire forest with a layer of dirt, the bears and wolves will never spawn, right?
>>
>>719408636
yes, but why would you do that kek

so got iron, what nou

they don't despawn, they just get eaten by wolves if there's not enough light

That's the big library from the better ruins mod. Interesting that it gets generated before you do the questlet for the trader.

>>

when did you build that thing?

>Every block checks if it’s in a greenhouse after a maximum of 4 in-game hours, give or take a few seconds. Therefore, it might take a little time before the +5°C buff appears on the blocks inside of the structure, and not all blocks will be updated simultaneously.

if you use slabs to offset a room by half a block it becomes safe during temporal storms because there's only one layer of empty space

imagine breeding hyper productive plants
>>
>>719419827
could be really fun creating the perfect garden as some kind of endgame entertainment. pressing and drying plant variants you are particular fond of from a specific year, maybe adding display cases to show them off.
>>
>>719420162
that would be so cool, if it must have a deeper impact maybe tie in the lack luster beekeeping mechanics to kill two birds with one stone
>>
>>719420103
https://mods.vintagestory.at/rivergen
>>719420329
maybe add camo or something else that's mechanically useful
>>
>>719420406
Drug production could also benefit from this: breed horsetail to make it more effective, or if your soil/climate is poor, to make it more resistant, or if you have excellent conditions for faster growth but use up nutrients more quickly.
