I wholeheartedly believe that "Chicken Jockey" was manufactured by the film's advertising team because the movie would have tanked if not for that. When it first released all the movie got was hate, if you read the initial reviews everybody hated it. Reception of the film only changed because of the Chicken Jockey phenomenon which greatly increased the audience perception of the movie, thereby indicating to me that it was a fake and staged event to save the film. And yes companies do things like that, get over it. Companies are not good people.

You can tell it wasn't part of their master plan because they didn't know how to react to the phenomenon, and more importantly, they didn't know how to capitalize on it. They didn't know whether to tell audiences to not leave a mess or encourage them just to sell more seats, they tried to come up with a meme version of the movie after the hype died down where they'd encourage audiences to cheer after Jack Black said something stupid, no one went to those screenings.
