Say what you want about old games, but visual clarity is something that modern games lack. Fuck particle effects screen pollution, details that have no meaning or are too small to be noticeable without a camera mod, or animations that are too fast and you can't appreciate what's happening. Progress is good, but it allowed for too many imbeciles to hide their lack of design talent behind a pile of special effects and details. And it also tanks performance on top of that.
It's gotten to the point where I simply don't play any game that has particle effect vomit.
>>719395247Also all these graphics cost too much as a result of a lot of other things being cut out, as a result the games are super boring and lack mechanics of older games.
>>719395247Trying to replicate real life lighting in games killed visual clarity
>we want our games to have realistic lighting - like the movies!>movies use the most unrealistic lighting possible
>>719395247That's a modern game.
>>719396251The sad thing is that old games understood this, so the lighting was always atmospheric, not realistic.
