Have you played Wild Arms yet?
>>
GTO anime started out so well, then they ruined it by making Onizuka too retarded to even care about the safety of his class

Yes, all three WA games are good.

>Live action was better
i never understand why people say this. No. imo Onizuka works way better animated because of the facial expressions and all the animated nonsense and tomfoolery he can do. I've watched both live actions and this is simply not true

I think you're forgetting about 3 more of them. Are they that bad?
>>
I did, but never finished it. I'm a bit too old to play JRPGs now (26).

Funny enough, I actually just played through the first game a few months ago. The first 2/3rds are quite fun and rather well paced, but as soon as you get the ship the entire game goes to shit and the dungeons become unbelievably tedious.

Even with the spell that lowers your random encounter rate, dealing with enemies in certain dungeons while you're trying to figure out puzzles is a fucking hassle, especially in that book dungeon. The final dungeon in particular where you have to go to three sub-dungeons was so miserable that I broke the gamer code and just ended up using a guide, because I couldn't blow any more of my life on it. Also, the fact that you can't just buy MP restore items makes the whole game way more tedious.

It's actually got a very fast-paced battle system and a great way of unlocking magic, and I did find several parts early on very fun and memorable, but I really think they ran out of steam in the final lap. If you're interested, I do recommend playing it, but just know that the initial level of quality doesn't last through the whole adventure.

I doubt I'll ever try any of the sequels as I hear they're all worse than the first one.

>Onizuka literally became a teacher to groom a pupil into being his wife
>this was seen as humorous and even normal in 1990s Japan
Um.... can we talk about this?

Didn't they reboot GTO relatively recently or give it a new show or something? Was that good?

Onizuka is just another archetypical character that is badass but for some reason is a virgin. Just like Kiryu. Just like Ohma. Yes Japs are really weird about purity.

Don't listen to this anon

That's because Onizuka is socially inept dweeb. He has the looks and is Chad on paper, but he loses his marbles when women are involved and often acts inappropriately.

He is basically the author's self insert but instead of drawing the typical black haired protagonist he made Onizuka look like his cool college senpai.
