What caused Nintendo to fall and tendies to be so mentally ill? Nintendo used to be a great company that had the best mobile gaming devices on the market and made some really fun shit. Now it feels they are a shell of their former self with a cult following

The N64 failed and it weeded out normal gamers who wanted normal ass games. If you owned a Ninendo or Super Nintendo, you were a fan of a wide range of games. Nintendo fans after the N64 and Gamecube were "nintendo fans" who only played nintendo games.

This is also why metroid, F-Zero, and a few other game series are hard to make and sell since they no longer fit in with the wide general audience anymore, instead they clash with the Nintendo audience. A Metroid Prime released for PS, Xbox, and Steam would sell 5 million copies.
