It's the best lockpicking system. It's only fault is that you can just spam Auto Attempt.
A shame gaymers hate systems that need investment. It actually felt like a skill you needed get into to master and not just a time wasting minigame.

There's a rhythm to it, isn't there? If the tumbler taps in too quickly, it will always break, so you only click when it glides in smoothly. Once you get it down it's perfect, since you can rely on your own skill rather than the character's.
>>
>>719427606
It's not even hard. Just keep pushing up until it goes up slow enough to catch it at the top. It actually mimics real lockpicking as well. Best lockpicking minigame ever.
>>
>>719427758
>If you're not level 10 yet

If you're that low leveled, you certainly cannot afford 500 lockpicks anyway, jackass.

>>

Lmao.
>>
>>719426967
just keep tapping after it drops until it's a "slow drop". then you just don't let it fall completely down and just spam up. it'll be far easier to click it into place as you're keeping it on the slow drop.
>>
>>719426967
The are different speeds it goes at, just watch for the slow one and then keep it in the air until you're ready to time it. Once you do it enough you don't need to wait for the slow ones anymore. It's a fine system if you're even semi competent
>>
>>719426967
Yeah it's closer to actual lockpicking but too tedious and distracting.
Much prefer the fallout 3 style where it still feels like you're doing something but you're usually done within 10 seconds.

How is skyrim more skilled than oblivion? You just have to get lucky and put it in the right spot before your turn. Every tumbler requires skill to set. It's much more skill based and less reliant on stats.
>>
>>719428852
It's cheese. The intended way perfectly represents picking a lock while holding up while it clicks repeatedly represents that you're a nigger.

>>using the minigame's characteristics, noticing points of weaknesses and solving it isn't the "intended way"
>Are you actually mentally retarded?
it's /v/, the answer is always yes, with an added touch of autism
>>
>>719426967
You keep pushing the tumbler up until it moves slow. You have to let it fully come back down to let the tumbler change the speed. Once it starts going slow, make sure to not let the tumbler fall back down and it will stay that speed. Then just lock it in and repeat on the next tumbler.
>>
>>719428912
I meant it as how much skill achieves compared to statistics. 100 Security in Oblivion helps much more than 100 Lockpicking in Skyrim.
>>

I don't know. The sweet spot is so fucking small for a very hard lock in skyrim when I can pick very hard locks from the beginning of oblivion and not lose picks.
>>

There are several different randomly selected speeds at which the tumbler pin will raise when you tap it.
Your Security skill makes it more likely to get the slower speeds every time you tap the pin.
The fastest ones have almost no to actually zero window to get the pin set. Never click on them when they jolt up to the top in a tenth of a second.
The slowest have huge windows for you to click as the point the pin smoothly moves up and stalls at the top for a good fraction of a second.

>>
It's not that difficult if you have basic pattern recognition. What's really funny is the Switch version of Skyrim having vibration spikes that denote the beginning and end of where the correct angle lies, one lockpick is literally all you need if you have this information.
>>

Is the joke that its the best lockpick minigame so therefore its bad to encourage people to interact with the thread?

Why does auto attempt never work for me

I agree, it was pretty engaging. I just forgot it because the rest of the game was so bland outside of boarding actions. Though even that's relative to the fact that games with space piracy are pretty lacking on the boarding aspect. It is helped by the gun combat being more passable then previous Bethesda entries.

I'd put it at C+ maybe B-

it desperately needs a hundred more "random" dungeons, maybe even double that. the procedural generation was a mistake. It also needed more hubs and settlements.

The quests were decent, if a bit sparse. but i enjoyed it for what it was. maybe i'll give it another go once i get another computer pretty soon. Its a 7/10 for me

also after playing games like everspace and freelancer i just didn't bother with space combat and used console commands to just skip that shit.

Yeah, I used to go off the sound. I could pick locks with my eyes closed.

When the pins go slowly up you press mouse1, when they instantly teleport up and fall down you don't press mouse1. See? It's not that hard little Timmy

Fuck off, nigger. Your thread is gay and so are you.

Procedural generated planets based on a tiny set of choices didn't help. Also it doesn't work as a substitute for things to do. Once you played the main story, what was the point of it? To see all the different variations, which you could do before you even visited every planet with points of interest. It was a 4.5/10 that had the potential to double that conceptually.

The space combat was simplistic and uninspiring. But being able to board and fight to steal a ship was great. But like I said, only because the amount of games that even allow that is sparse.

The pin will maintain the same speed as long as you don't let it hit the bottom.
Now it's easy.

if you read the earlier parts of this thread, an anon melted down over this hint
