I don't think so, it's hard and somewhat punishing if you game over and have to repeat some levels but it's overall it's got very fun gameplay, a great soundtrack and its a good co-op experience.Plus the artstyle is unique which is always a plus.

Zoomer here The best one is donkey country 2 by far. Idk why everyone loves stickerbrush when the entire game has phenomenal soundtrack. The next best is Country returns for WiiAfter Banana for switch 2

Nintendo was so concerned with DKC being hard they dumbed it down even further for the Japanese release.The game's strengths are the vibes it generates. The graphics are incredibly, the landscapes picturesque and the music atmospheric. It's less about the gameplay and more about exploring the Donkey Kong world. Gameplay-wise Yoshi's island is better, but it isn't nearly as visually groundbreaking or technically impressive as DKC was.The sequels vastly improve the gameplay, although I'd argue DKC3 is less inspired despite being a larger "world".
