what are you hopes/expectations for alien isolation 2?

Buggy and unoptimised Unreal 5 powered slop.

Unironically longer but with good engagement.
Based more on the second movie more.
Delves more into the fucked up parts of xeno nature.
Finally introduces the king xeno. You have to avoid and escape it at some final sequence ig.
Doesn't continue Amanda's story, at least directly.
UPP makes an appeareance.

Shitty original references and lines.
Prometheus made canon.
Buggy.
Not original enough to keep you engaged.
Ruins the first story.

This. Got a feeling they'll cancel it, and if they don't it'll be shit.
They also did it before the disney acquisition if memory serves so now it's even more likely to be abysmal dogshit.
Dark descent was ok. If you want a good aliens game I recommend that one. The psychic shit and overacting was kind of out there tho, but overall it wasn't as bad as people expected at the start.

Im hoping they say "fuck this" and make Jurassic Park instead. Imagine a game as faithful to the 1993 JP movie as Isolation was to Alien, then add Velociraptors that can open doors. They'd be just as scary as the Alien

>>
>>719436013
It wasn't that terrible. The "too long" argument is for retards that hid in lockers 90% of the time or if you're IGN. You're mostly in it for the story and by the time the mechanics start to get repetitive (third last part,) the game weighs on moving forward with lot of changes happening to keep you engaged like corporate coming onboard or station crashing, ect.

Wanting it to be longer is asking for more of the content that kept you engaged. For me it was the progression of the story or the random shit you found around the station. There's a whole section just for logs for you to read and I'm guessing you just didn't care for them.

It's the best thing that came out of the Alien franchise for thirty years. And took over a decade to ever make more. You're goddamn right I want it to be 30 hours. There's no benefit to you to seeing the ending as fast as possible a hundred times. But I love there being lots of areas to explore, lots of characters, lots of missions and events.

This. But they're going to do it. Rather than end Amanda's adventure and keep it plausible canon (a perfect time to introduce someone new and unconnected to Ripley), they're going to keep Amanda and pretend she didn't die and has been secretly fighting aliens a dozen more times throughout space
>>
>>719436972
>it's more that they kept making you think it would end, but then it went on for hours longer
This was great actually, it prolonged your suffering, gave you hope and quickly quelled it, made you think you were safe then dragged you back into hell. Felt like being in an actual nightmare, and the cold indifference of space laughs at your exhaustion and begging for repreive.

That's because she canonically didn't die. She died of old age surrounded by loved ones, they even showed fotos of her to ripley when she finally made it back to earth after Alien 1

About the only "too long" part I didn't like on repeat playthroughs was:
>the rush to get out of the station part felt like it had several areas just tacked on with ideas they wanted to put elsewhere like the runaway train you have to dodge
>you get captured, knocked out and cocooned only to wake up very soon after and before getting facehugged, then somehow break free on your own and start escaping again;
Those felt like padding. She didn't need to get cocooned right at the end as some kind of "gotcha!"
>>
>>719437676
Pretend she didn't die of old age*. They're going to pretend that the old woman they showed Ripley was le ACTUALLY an imposter. And they were totally secretly using her real daughter as an alien fighter in some far off space system and lying to Ripley. Because alien stories need the most idiotic lore and convoluted nonsensical schemes possible.
>>
>>719437790
>She didn't need to get cocooned right at the end as some kind of "gotcha!"
That's just like the movies though. Both Alien and Aliens had endings with a "think you're safe? think again" gotcha moment, like with the alien being inside the escape pod and the queen making its way on board.
>>
>>719437891
Yeah I can see how that would make me really angry
>>
>>719437980
That's EXACTLY why it's terrible. You don't just repeat it over and over and over, eventually saying EVERY Alien movie needs it every time. Now these morons think that every Alien movie/story/game needs a female protagonist who looks/acts like Ripley but even more girlbossy. And they all need one android sidekick. It's really dumb and repetitive.

I wish so badly that they make the xenomorphs AI the absolute very best it can be. I do not want the AI to moreless know where you are like it did in the first game, I want it to be completely reactive to everything that happens all the time disregard wherever you are. I want it so that you will literally never know where it could be prowling.

Of course I am very well aware that best case scenario they will make something as good as the first game and not what I wish for.

It didn't. And it was the best AI ever made for these types of games.
>>
>>719438689
i can see why some anons might be turned off by it being a bit over 10 hours but i DO think that adds to the feeling of being pushed to the brink mentally on the harder modes if you aren't speedrunning the game
the game's paced very well in that there's a number of breather sections between the high tensions stuff with the alien hunting you
it strikes a really good balance almost all the time
>>
>>719434741
>30
Stop being shit. 99% of the people who claim that Isolation is too long say so because they spent the entire game crouchwalking.
>>
>>719438419
You would be for most of the game on easy mode if it didn't have sections where it was fighting with it's other AI brain about where you are.

For an aliens inspired game it could work if there are multiple xenos so you don't just go 90% of the time without encountering the xeno at all. Maybe, not a dev.
>>
>>719434332
That it never happens. Never played the original and never will, shill.
>>
>>719438689
ive never played a mobile game

horror is best kept short. almost every great horror game is short except a small handful like darkwood
>>
>>719438940
30 hours is like the 100% achievement guided run for every collectible and achievements according to how long to beat - i agree with you though, the game isn't actually as long as some anons claim and it's likely that they spend way too much time hiding for no reason or crouching when simply walking 95% of the time is fine and will actually get you out of danger, the game is designed for the player to try and take risks and it pays off, if you actually fumble then you have items to fall back on
>>
>>719439314
>>719438940

i spent 30 hours because i played it on the hardest difficulty mode

it was WAY too repetitive and some parts dragged on
>>
>>719439290
Wrong, and not every horror is up in your face. Most horror games you'll eventually get used to seeing the monsters because they obviously can't hurt you. A good story and afterward fixation on the disturbing themes can keep a horror game going. It doesn't have anything to do with the length.
>>
>>719438904
>>719438904

What I also want like >>719438419 says is a game with an insanely good AI and, above all, that actually makes the game extremely hard on the highest difficulty. For me the original game even on the highest difficulty wasen't hard at all if you were slightly careful and even if you fucked up and crossed paths with the xenomorph all you had to do was to spray it with a bit of the good old flamethrower, hide for a bit and then continue. I really want them to go all out on the AI and on the difficulty for those of us that want a challenge.
>>
>>719438940
This. I didn't want the game to end because I was enjoying it so much. I got value for money. Now we have fags complaining its too long? This is why we get fed nothing but shit now, standards are dropping

were you getting lost or something? my first play was blind at launch before nightmare was a mode and it was around 14 hours on hard so i can never go back and play nightmare as my first run but essentially you just have a broken tracker and less items than hard but the core game is still the same with some minor tweaks from what hard offers.
>>
>>719434332
Biggest wasted potential with Isolation was that you were led by the nose at all times. Even though you had this big ship, you never actually organically explored it, it was just a linear trek from objective to objective.
I would love if 2 let the player off the leash more and let them explore maps properly. Then the player is tested on their knowledge of the area when the xenomorph (or whatever it might be) comes in.
As a consequence of this though they would have to rework the director AI to let the xenomorph wander around more dynamically, which would be a good thing.

>>
>>719440130
>Ask about Sevastopol safety protocols
I wonder if this would actually work
>>
>>719439969
and to add to this i think nightmare isn't really for a first run due to the map not being a thing and it being post launch content - anyone doing that on their initial run is shooting themselves in the leg, it's not really the alien or lack of resources that are hard but navigation is much more of the issue - nightmare assumes you know where to go essentially and takes away the map which was designed into the game as something you scavenger from terminals like a resource
>>
>>719434332
If it's made my nu-CA, nothing.
>>
>>719434332
That instead of making it shorter they just add more variety to the gameplay. Delve more into the immsimy stuff with the alien vs humans vs androids dynamic, more stealth tools, breather segments where you get gameplay mechanics other than sneaking.

Great addition to the canon too. So rare to see a sequel respect the source material, and add new stuff that doesnt trample on it.
>Shitty outdated McRobots made by a company thats about to go under
Its perfect. There's like 1 in a million fanfictions that are this cautious with the source material, so seeing it from a AAA game was amazing.
Plus it gave them an excuse to have multiple android enemies while upping the scare factor.

Yes, just make it literally the absolute last resort to shoot at the extraterrestrial. I just wish they would make it tremendously atmospheric and with a huge emphasis on the fact that the xenomorph doesn't know where you are unless you make noise.

I want the AI to be as detailed and nuanced as possible. Extremely intelligent like the alien itself is.

Just improve everything the first game did in general. Maybe make the alien even more dangerous, but with even more ways of dealing with it; for instance if you actually trap it using locked doors, maybe instead of teleporting out because it's stuck it just spends a significant amount of time trying to break the door down. If multiple aliens are introduced, make killing them a possible (if extremely resource intensive) possibility.
I mean that last one's probably controversial but I just found it silly how in the game you find a fucking homemade railgun and it doesn't even tickle the alien for no reason other than "you just can't okay"
