>>719436368Light no FireWayward RealmsPost Nut CalamityAre pretty much the only games in the foreseeable future I have any interest/enthusiasm for. Wayward Realms in particular, if nothing the devs have been saying all the right things about the scope, design philosophy, player experience, it's everything I wish Todd Howard would say.
>>719436368I have played no indies lately so I have nothing to add. I'm sorry.
>>719436368Damn her ass is huge. Is it a game, or just an animation someone made on twitter
>those texturesthis is a parody, right? you're not telling me modern indie devs are releasing crap that looks like this and thinking it looks good?
The Messenger was great, more of a Ninja Gaiden scavenger hunt than a metroidvania I think. Eastward is a comfy and very interesting top-down adventure from mainland China, playing it right now. The style is really Western cartoonish, looks good. I would have thought the Chinese would have went more anime.
>>719439142ABG played the demo sometime ago, so it appears to be a real game.>>719439251Its weird, if they removed the checkered metallic maps it could be okay - texile density seems to mostly be the same across the models, and the stretching is minimal enough to not be terrible. I imagine they did it so that some of the models are more reactive to the sci-fi glowy bits?
>>719440037I mean, the incredibly low res textures are everywhere in that clip not just characters, it seems to be a (bad) stylistic choice to try and replicate early 3D game aesthetics. But no game looked that bad and with other screen elements in HD it stands out more
Now people use it to refer to regular 2D games but that kind of shit (and awful filters like this) are real pixel slop.
>>719440676low-res textures are a non-issue, its how they're executed that counts. I always see the Megaman legends stuff that you just posted, for example, as a way low poly w/textures is done right, but I don't really like the style. But maybe I'm just doing this because I like the character design for the sci - fi robot whore-thing.
I'm looking forward to this shit, seems like Wild Guns with extra gameplay features which might not work but at least looks awesome
Noita is my Queen>Slay the Spire 2 this yearSteam Deck gonna be getting a lot more action here soon
>>71943925190% of indie devs are lazy, and a lot of them see a """retro""" style as the perfect excuse to put even less effort into their game.Of course the second you point out that their game looks objectively worse than what they're ripping off, you get barraged with endless REEEEEEing and get called an AAA shill.
>>719442598yeah but it's a bit baffling that outside of the texture issue the game looks fine. It's like the artist saw dithering in an old game, didn't understand why it exists and went way overboard with it.
bump
>>719436368Easy Delivery Cohttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3293010/Easy_Delivery_Co/There's others but I can't remember them at the moment. This is the one I wanna snuggle up with when it's raining outside the most though.

I’m so tired of indieslop. It’s all the same shit
An anon posted a game that was like a modern adventure game similar to classics like Shadowgate that I was interested in and I can't find it. I had the tab open long after the thread was dead, but my computer crashed and I lost it and everything, so I tried to find it again remembering it was something about ghosts and demons and detectives and exorcisms, but I've found nothing. At this point it's not so much that I want to find it to play it. I just want to remember what it was. Also, play Duskers.
>>719448983No idea what the game is, but since you recently saw that with your computer crashing, I'm sure you can find it on the archive if you search within a date range for the indie game threads
