I got this really cheap a couple of days ago and i'm having a blast...should i try to get back to Xcom2 after?
I tried that when it came out and was a mess and later on when they turned it into a boardgame but got filtered by the shitty Fallen missions...anyways, Phoenix Point is superfun.

You could but Xcom, the new ones I assume, are different from Phoenix Point in many ways. Also do you have the DLCs? They add a whole bunch of shit to the game, like air battles and another tier of weapons.

I love XCOM 2 and I was always curious of Phoenix Point. Seems like a mixed bag for most.

Gameplay wise it's much closer to the older X Coms, you have multiple bases, have to build and remember to equip ammo, and so on.

I have all the DLCs they were just a couple buck and i think you need it for the big mod...i'm doing a vanilla run thou.
I think the setting is a lot more appealing to me than XCOM2, that said i think i'm giving it another try after PP.

I like xcom 2, though It's obvious they were going for a board game over a simulation

I just have a big issue with the missions where you get rushed by the zombie dudes...and sometimes the bosses are way too overpowered.
Oh and i kind lowkey expected the enemies from the depth in Xcom2 instead of the whole you lost the prior game even if you won...

Phoenix Point starts off pretty fun, but a lot of its problems become manifest around the midgame.

the zombies weren't bad imp. the skirmisher, ranger and templar all had perks that made them easier to deal with and you could also get the
>right between the eyes
perk. I usually sent the spark, skirmisher, a ranger and templar on those missions. you usually just don't use cover and you are fine. I think one of the bigger problems is that very early on it's hard to evac the bodyguard as a bonus. the spark and skirmisher are also really good because if the skirmisher misses he can still shoot again and the spark doesn't get stress based on number of enemies seen.
the bosses weren't bad. I think the assassin was far and away the most annoying. when they attack you the first time you can just let them mind rape your dude. it doesn't really affect you and you can get the assassin with scanners. you can face fuck the warlock with the spark and a mind shield and I don't remember the hunter ever being that bad. the alien rulers were way more annoying though they made them way easier in war of the chosen. the rulers are kind of gay because you need to kind of know they are there and overwatch everyone. one of the "hacks" to easily delete a ruler is to put a repeater on a reaper and give him the perk that let's him shoot until he's out of ammo. a superior repeater gives you a 15% shot of just straight up killing in one shot and 5 shots means a 55% chance to kill
