>buy game called “Deadly Premonition” with this cover art>assume it’s a gritty hardcore resident evil style >wacky mario world ripoff music plays while the wacky main character eats a lollipop and talks about the lack of DVD special features on 80s moviesno wonder this game was so polarizing
Western box art strikes again.
>>719444508Even better. The game initially ahd very little actual combat other than "the killer" so they added in zombies. There's no in-game explanation what they are or where they come from. There should be like 80 missing people by the end of the game.
>>719444508I haven't played the game but I still know that the last point isn't exactly hyperbolic or a joke, then again, it's a Hidetaka ''Sweary'' Suehiro game, it was always going to be polarizing.
>>719444508>Buy Deadly Premonition>It doesn't workI hate Steam
>>719444634I thought they were ghosts of murdered people summoned by the red seeds?
>>719444863The one reason to own a SeXbox. Best way to play Deadly Premonition.
>>719444863I got both on snitch
>>719444508>feel like playing the game again>remember the painful QTE chase sequences>remember the part where you have to follow the dog around all over townMaybe some other time.
>>719444560Jap one is shit too. Only PAL version is good.
Never watched twin peaks, are these games anything like it?
>>719446427Ah, yes, the Destructoid logo really brings it all together.
>>719446592They're basically just ripping off Twin Peaks which isn't a bad thing because Twin Peaks is great.
Man, talking to your head about random shit while driving through americana shitholes in the rain is so comfy, I wonder why no game had ripped this shit off...And the NPC schedules are badass too. You can see them do shit around town, you can spy on them through their windows... Badass gimmicks for a dogshit videogame.
>>719446592It was OBVIOUSLY influenced by seasons 1 and 2, I don't care what that fucking liar says
>>719446616I said good, not flawless.
If this is not gritty and hardcore to you you're a psychofaggot '-'https://youtu.be/gyvtqWHEEFs?t=264
>>719447536so kino
>>719444863PC version may as well not exist. Either buy the Xbox version, emulate the Switch version, or emulate either PS3 DC or PS3 Red Seeds Profile. Even then there's no real reason to emulate the DC version unless you really have to have the three extra suits, the house, and like two or three small cutscenes you can live without since the gameplay changes just set the game to Easy difficulty.
boomers be like: "YOOOO THIS GAMEPLAY FIRE"
>>719449705This but unironically
>>719449705>2010/2013>boomerGen betaanon...
Deadly Premonition 2 was complete fucking garbage
>>719449935>Letting her pot get cold.
>>719451069Deadly Premonition 2 was better than I expected from the reaction. I didn't play it on the Switch, though, so I had a decent framerate.
Real Cover
>>719451304lol I miss Two Best Friends Play
>>719447536>Gets raped and impregnated with a seed that grows a tree in her stomachReally brutal way to go, and really fucking dark for the overall tone of the game
>>719451470Yeah BUT having her refer to herself as "soiled" was a top tier joke
>>719451385Me too. Old school SBPF will never be topped, and there's never been a channel that captures that same feeling, and there likely never will be ever again. The fact that they're more or less indirectly responsible for series like Yakuza catching on in the West and Deadly Premonition getting a sequel is insane to think about. Not to mention how many careers they jumpstarted.
Fucking REKT
F K... in the coffee
>>719449705God, the "boomers be like" meme is so fucking lame and played out.
>>719451847Every shitty forced zoomer meme is fucking lame and played out. All you ever fucking see on /v/ now are their horribly unfunny Marvel-esque quips. They are incapable of just making a thread, they have to make the OP some kind of bait fishing for responses.
>>719444508>eats a lollipop York is a chainsmoker anon, did you get your hands on some kinda 4kids version of the game?
>>719451212>>719451069ngl the only thing ive ever seen anyone discussing about DP2 was the tranny thing, there was no discussion about it, not even here.
>>719451730Always wondered how much of Metal Wolf Chaos's relevance was owed to them.In a sea of streamers pandering to the latest popular thing they stood out just by being a friend group that was genuinely passionate about niche genres and weird-ass cult classics. I'll still watch Woolie's channel every now and then, now that he's the only one soldiering on with the feel of classic LPs, but I'll always have nostalgia for the old stuff.
>>719452180I mean York will eat whatever random foodstuffs you find out in the field. Lollipops among them.
>>719452229Probably most of it. The fact that it got a remaster could likely be attributed to them, too. There really is no channel that just does the group of friends that are passionate about niche titles and seem to genuinely know their shit (more or less) when it comes to weird, obscure things. I mean, hell, this was back during a time when much of what was coming out of Japan was still in that same category, and it was before a time where western releases were being brushed with a fine-tooth comb to prevent any of that anime weirdness from being apparent. Not that they really even make those style of games anymore. It wasn't even that long ago, but era is so wildly different than what we have today. If it weren't for them, I would have never gone back and beaten Wonderful 101. Their appreciation of those style of games made me appreciate them in turn. Same with Monster Hunter.
>>719452229i really can't watch any of them anymore.they were absolutely perfect together, and now that they aren't friends anymore(i seriously struggle to call what Woolie and Pat have now to be friendship desu, more partnership than anything) it feels like they're all washed out and aren't neither as funny or as interesting to listen to as they were before.
>>719452185There were tons of threads about it here when it released, and it gets brought up whenever a Deadly Premonition thread comes up.
>>719452770Pretty much. I also find it impossible to go back and watch their older videos. Everything ended on such a sour note that it ruined the stuff they made prior. Like when you play a shitty sequel to a video game you liked, so it just ruins your entire perception of the series.
>>719452770It's a real shame that it seems that Pat is now better friends with that aids golem from cyberpunk than he is with anyone from the old channelOn the plus side I have enjoyed the many years without ever having to see or hear about Liam
>>719449396To this day the 360 version is still the best way to play either via 360 or Xboxex
>>719452986I got surprise reminded of him during fucking Hundred Line discussions seeing people post a tweet from him which gave me a pretty odd feeling
>>719452770I still like tidbits from their podcast and the like, but Woolie's the only one I'd watch now because I don't get much out of solo streamers monologuing to themselves. I think they need someone to bounce off of. And Hell, I like Reggie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8WRCrrgY_g
>>719445114A game made for LPs
>>719453142It's a shame even on the Xbone X picture related drops to like 20 FPS. I wonder if the SeX would fix that but I doubt it.
>>719451304>characters actually sleep under their coverstruly a kino detail, I was playing a shitty anime metroidvania recently and I was shocked to see they actually bothered doing this
>>719454695Frames still drop down for that segment. Seems to be hardcoded for some reason.
>>719444508It was $20 at launch. I remember the GameStop guy trying to convince me not to buy it.
>>719451304still remember when a friend thought he was so fuckin funny calling me "last gen" because he found me passed out drunk on a bed atop the covers one time
>>719452520>and seem to genuinely know their shitAnon, if you took a shot every time Pat was wrong about something you'd die of cirrhosis in record time.
>>719455157Lol same here!
>>719444863How is this legal? You have to patch it yourself with a fan patch. And even if it's running smoothly, it can still crash at any moment.
>>719446616it shows no destruction logo on xbox one at least
>>719455049wtf is wrong with swery?
>>719444949Don't forget the shmups. 360 was the second coming of Sega Saturn in Japan.
>>719454120I think they need someone to bounce off of.Different anon than who you were replying to, but I agree there. None of them are the right fit to be the sole star in the spotlight. Or even really be the headliner. Each of them is at their best when the focus is split between them and someone else evenly.
>>719445114>remember the part where you have to follow the dog around all over townthat part was kino thohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAIlXaOFG_g
>>719455227that's a good joke
>>719451069No? It was a blessing in disguise
>>719449705Nobody has ever though the game has good combat gameplay. The game wasn't even supposed to have combat. Apparently the publisher came along partway through development and told them it looked like they were making a movie and not a game and ordered them to put some gameplay in it. They quickly whipped up some shitty gameplay just so they could tell the publisher it had some.
>>719456470>Apparently the publisher came along partway through development and told them it looked like they were making a movie and not a game and ordered them to put some gameplay in it.how the tables have turned
Jews won't let this game get a proper remaster.
>PC version kept crashing>bought PS3 version since it was bargain binned>game refuses to go above 15fpsI've been tempted to try the Switch version, but fucking hell, just unfuck the PC version already.
>>719452164Boomers be like: "I didn't get the joke because I didn't ingest enough microplastics."
is 2 worth playing? I gave up after like 2 hours
>>719459330Switch version is better than those versions but still worse that the original 360 version
>>719452185>tranny thingWhat?
>>719449396I thought the Switch version was also crap? I have a switch so I could play that version I guess. How come nobody bothered fixing up the PC port. Is it just THAT fucked up? The only other game I know is like that is Saint's Row 2.
>>719452520>group of friends that are passionate about niche titles and seem to genuinely know their shitOneyPlays when DingDong was there had a similar feeling.
>>719459330I runs on linux for me but sound didn't work fully.
>>719444508I have this, never tried it though
>>719460943Meant to reply to these>>719444863>>719459330
>>719460843Yeah, they did. But unfortunately that time has passed, and DingDong really went off the deep end. Zach, Lyle, and Tomar really don't fit that same dynamic at all. Cory and Dave are at least game devs and old Newgrounders so they can relate to things, but the early days of OneyPlays were a lot more fun because you'd learn about random facts about niche games and cartoons.
Will we ever find out who D was
>>719446592they're a hack fraud's interpretation of twin peaks, completely worthless and hugely overrated, swery sucks cocks
>>719444560What a dumb name
>>719451069Sweary is a hack.A his games suck. They are just rip off, and bad ones.Deadly Premonition was the perfect case of lightning in the bottle.Spyficition, D4 deadly premonition 2, all suck.Even auteurs like Suda have at least 2 good games.Sweary has one and even that is questionable. Starting to think people pretend to like it just to fit in.
>>719452185>trannyWhat happened?
>>719463321Tranny character gets intentionally deadnamed. Trannies flipped out over Swery basically genociding them. Swery was a fucking faggot and begged them for forgiveness and swore to do better.
>>719463556There's a tranny is dp2?
>>719463805Leonard
>>719462348holy based anonDP2 felt like the dude was trying too hard to be quirky. Like it almost has that spark that made DP1 good but it was trying too hard. Doesn't help he's a raging leftist and is friends with all the worst type of game journalists.
>>719460604I'm "fine" with the Director's Cut changes, unless you mean the Switch version is worse than the original in some other way. If emulating the PS3 version actually lets me boost the framerate to something more stable I may just go that route instead.
