Git gud is all I can say. I still can't read the enemy skills half the time when they pop up for 0.298 seconds. Having an encyclopedic knowlege of the game in english helps a lot.

Dragon Quest XI is a pretty good one, has furigana and the font is easy to read. You'll probably have to emulate the Switch version or import a copy though because Square Enix is really weird and didn't allow Japanese text on the Steam version.

Yo-Kai watch is also good for learning but the gameplay is a little boring in my opinion.

SNES jrpgs in general are decent. They actually have some, but not an overwhelming amount of kanji. And thanks to space limitations there isn't too much dialogue.

Tears of the Kingdom emulated in 4k has been an absolute blast to play in Japanese.
Furigana + the important words are highlighted, so it’s super easy to follow. Although it’s more complex than you’d expect, you should know the basics first.
There’s even a dialogue ログ so you can re-read skipped dialogue.
Way better than BotW

I'm getting really sick of troon /djt/ers like you shitting up every other board because you're bored with shitting up your own board after having driven off anyone with even the vaguest of interest in the language.
>>
>>719449575
FF5 is easier material and still has kanji.
4 is kana only, unless you play some faggot version I guess but why bother.
other than that, all I got for you is ganbatte.

Rule #1 of learning Japanese is avoid anyone else who is learning Japanese. We're all absolutely insufferable. Learn Japanese exclusively from Japanese people. 頑張って

Really the key to any kind of self-improvement hobby is to absolutely never ever compare your progress or status to anyone else's.

It didn't used to be like this. Most /v/ threads are fine, but recently I've been seeing more and more of them get infected with the /djt/ sperg, I can only assume he's gotten incredibly bored of replying to himself over and over for the past 5 years on /jp/ because they have no moderation, so he's come here to "bless" us with his ironic N5 takes and shit up every thread that dares to talk about the language.

I could understand his sperg rage on the jay, the mean old moderators forced the thread onto HIS board, what I don't understand is why he has to bring his mental illness here.

>>719449575
Look up words. Study words you don't know. Focus on understanding anything at all, and don't beat yourself up for not understanding everything. Don't expect to understand native material 100% as you would if it were your native language while you're learning. As the months go by you'll revisit something you only sort of understood and have a much clearer understanding and it will hit you like a fucking drug. Read many things. Listen to many things. Have patience. That last one is the absolute biggest key. If you want to learn Japanese, you're embarking on a journey that takes years. Consistency + time = results. It simply does.

As you study you'll encounter many times where it feels like you're plateauing, but before you know it, you see/hear something you understand which you know for a fact you couldn't have understood before, and that smacks all of your self-doubt right in the fucking face.

If you can swing it, take a vacation to Japan and go to some places where you can chat with Japanese people. Despite what you may hear, many people will be eager to chat with a foreigner if you can speak even a little bit of Japanese. Tiny bars are great. Girls' bars are great too because you're pretty much paying for a conversation partner. Lots of them offer soft drinks, so you don't have to drink if that's not your thing.

To play jap games, I just whip out my phone and google translate the screen.
>>

It's funny how zoomers are so tech incompetent. 15 years back I was text hooking games to get crappy MTLs on the fly, now retards are paying jeets on patreon to do that for them and copy paste it back into the game.
>>

>Square Enix is really weird and didn't allow Japanese text on the Steam version
There's a mod that adds nip text to that version, but it's not ideal since it also breaks the text in the Tockle area.
>>
>>719451041
>Square Enix is really weird and didn't allow Japanese text on the Steam version.
That's because Steam doesn't allow different SKUs in the same way.

The Switch version doesn't have Japanese text either, you have to import the Japanese version of the game. Or, you know, just pirate it. The whole thing was to prevent reverse importing, the Japanese version had extra features like the audio dramas, while the worldwide version had shit like giving you half the DLC for free.
>>
It actually did annoy me how much kanji the pixel remasters used. I was half expecting furigana given the age group the originals targeted.
