I'm pretty sure what happened was they got rid of the homo stuff due to the seethe over ME1 with Liara which is weird because Liara is still in ME2 and they had homos in ME3. the same thing happened with the nudity. they toned the nudity down hard in ME2 because there was seethe during ME1 over it, but then brought it back in ME3
