i hope they add more stuff to the game than rolling or poise breaking as ways to keep yourself safe since they made shields kind of bad in ds3. I liked in FF: strangers of paradise how you had stuff like white mage buffs, soul parry, regular parry, blocking, chain abilities, crowd control, iframe dashes, certain weapon moves like the instant counter when using shields, etc to keep you safe and encourage you to accept risks during combat. In ds3 and elden ring it felt like the mechanics were heavily reliant on only dodge rolling and jumping while the boss or the big enemies sperg out and do their un-interruptable combos. It made the game feel unsatisfying that they get to do all this cool shit and you have no expression or risk taking, just dodging and positioning until its your turn to deliver some damage with 1-2 weak attacks/spells (assuming the boss/enemy doesnt have an extremely exploitable animation you can bait out repeatedly) so the addition of more mechanical variety during their sperg outs would make the game more satisfying.Long sword in monster hunter rise was extremely satisfying because it was always "your turn" as long as you could access one of your parries and complete it. Imagine if there was a way to clash with enemies where you protect yourself while damaging them or attack while repositioning yourself like a spell that teleports you and leaves a cherry bomb where you were a moment ago. It would make boss design more interesting too if they had more to do than roll catching or pattern memorization for rolling.
