anybody here play this?i got into it cause i loved dredge and wanted a fishing thing to get into, plus fishing and making sushi with your catch seems fun.it's okay, a bit of a mess with the farm and some quests being rng based, plus the controls aren't the best but then again it's underwater. it feels like it wants to do a a lot of things and does it half assed, when they really should've focused on the fishing and sushi shop more than anything

>>719460646i pirated this game and its pretty alright. hate how many loading screens it has tho. >loading screen>stand on boat and take phone call>hey dude come check out thing>another loading screen>see thing (wow so cool)>another loading screen>get back to boat and dive into the water>ANOTHER LOADING SCREEN
>tfw was also playing Dredge when a friend mentioned Dave the DiverIt's a bit all over the place but I think it's solid. The only thing that's tacked on that shouldn't be there is the land farm. The fish farm is fine. Does what it needs to, could have been more but at least it's functional. Past that it seems like they were having fun with going over the top. I like it.
I thought it was okay. It has a bunch of minigames that feel under developed, and it goes on a bit longer than it should. But it has the cool shrimp which makes it okay in my book.
>>719460646Actually finished this the other day and it was alright but definitely not as crazy of a game as some people have been hyping it up as (I also remember it having a ridiculously high meta critic score which is fucking laughable).Like you said some of it felt half assed. Like the fish farm I almost completely ignored that, the farm I used a little bit (only rice and veggies tho the chicken stuff I again ignored completely). The diving itself and underwater exploring was fun but I expected way more areas and variety. Some controls felt bad at times and some qol stuff was missing for me like skipping certain stuff. Also feel like a big reason this game is so highly praised are the cutscenes which are somewhat funny bc they are so cliche but imo dont warrant such a high rating overall. Would give it a 6/10.
>>719461023>>719460646Well we're three for three on the Dredge to Dave The Diver pipeline.
>>719460646Played the free demo that has the entire game. For an hour or so. Thought it was good enough. Haven't played since. Still installed.
>>719461313>an hour or so 8 months ago.
>>719460646Grindy corporate pseudo-indie game with millions of dollars worth of shilling behind...
>>719461247I bought them both together, but played Dredge first and just recently finished Dave. Crazy, that.Dredge is probably a worse game, though neither of them really lived up to the hype and reputation they have as indie games. Dredge is honestly pretty grindy and the story is almost nonexistent. Dave is a more fun grindy and has more story, though the story is kind of worse.
>>719460646The first half of the game where you grind fresh fishes for your sushi store while venture deeper is 10/10.The second half of the game when you get to sea civilization part the entire portion is just a giant time filler and it drops the experience down to 6/10.
No. It's a garbage mobile game shat out by Nexon trying to pretend they're "indie". They also tried to scam people with limited time paid DLCs because they're Nexon.
>>719460646I played a little bit of it. It's okay, not bad. Reminds me of different flash games cobbled together in one game.
>>719461247>>719461023>>719460646i thought the gameplay of dredge was kinda shitfishing was too simple and a repetitive grindnone of the boss fish were really dangerous so there was no sense of threatwould i like dave the diver?
>>719462297The first half of the game is when it already becomes shit, tardThe first dive or two is maybe fun, then it becomes apparent that>you're forced to play a shitty restaurant flash game every game day>the game wants you to do mobile style "upgrades" where you throw away duplicates to make a resource slightly better>the game doesn't actually give you any breathing room to relax as it keeps nagging you with quests and railroading you through the story>and it can be unavoidable, like with the dumbass dolphin and his stupid girlfriend>the game wants you to do combat which FUCKING BLOWS HOLY SHIT>the game also keeps stopping everything to dump some additional shitty half-baked mechanic on youIt's just a terrible game.
Nexon is my favorite indie team
>>719462875Nah, the forumla for the first half is comfy. Your dopamine receptor is probably fried and your brain cant comprehend slow games. Go back to CoD. That's more like a game for you.
>>719462784Dave the diver is a proper game in comparison, it's like an order of magnitude more fun at least. But keep in mind it's just "Gimmicks: The game", you will do a lot of random shit as the game goes on, there is a lot of small little things to keep you busy besides diving, which can get annoying eventually. It's a 7/10 maximum, but I enjoyed it.
>>719462297The upper layers are just so full of so many different types of fish that it's actually fun to try and pick up the different species, pushing your O2 and getting as much as you can before you have to get back. But then even just once you reach the deep ocean, the fish thin out a TON and there's barely anything to catch down there. There's little reason to catch a lot of those fish too, since they aren't worth a whole lot or used in recipes. And then you get to the underwater people and it drags you into a whole story quest, which is probably the weakest thing about this game. Not to mention the village is fucking humongous for no reason, making it really annoying having to swim to across the map to deliver shit. And then the areas past that are just as sparse as the deep ocean, so all that's worth doing past the first... 33% of the game is just hunting sharks.>>719462784Dave's fishing is a lot more interactive, and actually catching different fish is more worthwhile. It's just a much better game than Dredge, even if Dredge has a more interesting visual style.
>>719463035>slow gamesDid we fucking play the same game? I WANTED to take it slow, but the game had a different idea by constantly trying to railroad me and forcing me to do dumb quests. Not to mention you can screw yourself over by upgrading the restaurant before doing the quest that lets you to hire staff.
>>719463338Anon there is no time limitAny and all pressure was solely inside your head
>it feels like it wants to do a a lot of things and does it half assed, when they really should've focused on the fishing and sushi shop more than anythingGood news, the content updates are more of the same and make no changes to the core fishing game. Well except for the Dredge DLC that at least adds some new fish types, but that's the only one.
>>719463441So? Doesn't change the fact the game keeps nagging you and doesn't want to leave you alone without some sort of quest hanging over your head. And if it decides that something MUST happen next dive (the dumbass dolphin) then tough shit, get fucked
>>719462875I'm completely with you. I thought it'd be a nice way to play some minigames and grind a bit but it was so incessantly frantic that I got pissed off. It didn't help that the restaurant minigames all sucked.
>>719461247I got Dredge and got into Sunless Sea insteadDid get Dave the Diver later though but I wouldnt say Dredge influenced my purchase, Subnautica probably did I still gotta finish that game but diving deep unironically triggers a fight or flight response>>719462875Holy shit this, the amount of crap you get thrown at you constantly the first 3 chapters is honestly pissing me offI stopped doing the main quest at helping the village cause I actually wanna play the fucking game for myself instead of being funneled into quests
>>719463873>the game keeps nagging youIt shows a quest in your quest log. That's it.>the dumbass dolphinThere are like 5 quests in total, spread across many days. All of which take a maximum of 4 minutes to complete.
