FF7 already explained that the point of the Reunion is that all of Jenova's cells are naturally drawn to one another. So by that logic, the trio should just know it's somewhere nearby Rufus. Did they buy a plane to get to the Forgotten Capital or did they bum a ride from Xehanort? But as dumb as this is, it didn't even work. The children led them to the wrong spot. Bahamut Sin blew up that monument for no reason. Really though I could manufacture a way to tolerate all of this if it weren't for the fact that it made FF7 pointless. FF7's endgame is Holy which is supposed to destroy everything the Planet considers a threat to itself. The final rush to the Northern Crater is about destroying Sephiroth because Sephiroth is keeping Holy pinned down so it can't destroy Meteor, Jenova, and himself. And he was partially successful, by the time Holy was allowed to fire, Meteor was too close to stop. But at least we could take solace that Sephiroth and Jenova were destroyed. Only for AC to establish that not only did Holy not do shit, Sephiroth and Jenova will never ever fucking die. So no, the Compilation doesn't get a pass. It was stupid too

If the area beneath the plate had an out of control firestorm that threatened the rest of the city, you could evacuate everyone in a couple of hours and drop the plate to extinguish it. You'd lose the section and have to rebuild, but you'd save the other 7/8ths of the city. Seems pretty practical to me.
