I hate DS2, but it is the most innovative game in the entire series, for good or for worse, many mechanics like power stancing and dual wielding exclusive moveset were introduced in DS2, it had other good but tedious mechanics like that spear that breaks and changes the moveset, and other not so good mechanics like perma aggro, and enemy spam. I beat the game, I found it miserable to play, but it is a widely misunderstood game in the grand scheme of things.

but is it really noticeable
the only texture people complain about is the inside of the windmill which you dont ever even look at in-game
in case of ps1 trees, they are in a distance working as skybox, the path to the sen's fortress looks exactly the fucking same and the trees are right next to you
people complaining about shaded woods and all the paths to drangelic/aldia etc. completely ignore the fact that darkroot garden in ds1 looks exactly the fucking same

the issue with ds2 is that every zone is somewhat linear path while ds1, while still linear has a lot of things happening so you dont notice how awful it looks
