Why can't video games regularly have writing on this level? Why does stuff like Expedition 33 receive effusive praise simply by having HALF an interesting cast+story? Are standards for gamers really that low??

>>719467337There's so much to the story, lore and cast that is nothing like Mass Effect that I always find this a baffling critique. Okay there's a similar impending doom ancient cycle aspect to the main story. The execution is nothing alike as you're not gathering together forces of all nations to defeat it. The books you collect like Butcher of Ark, Nameless Traveler etc have nothing to do with that. The characters themselves have vastly more depth than any in ME too. The quality and have crafted nature of the side quests also mogs the shit out of ME
