so i've been avoiding w3 for almost a decade now

i've played some of w1 when it came out, but not by much, and i don't remember what it's all about in its world

so, can someone genuinely tell me if the story in w3 is "out of this world" good that it's worth tolerating (at least from what i've seen) its combat mechanics? like, can it bring you great joy, but also great sorrow with its storytelling and dialogue?

i'd gladly read someone's long paragraphs reply on why i should play w3

play the game or dont, just stop trying so hard to fit in here you insufferable faggot
>>
It's pretty fun. Gets pretty repetitive though.

Overall main story line 7/10
Side quests 8/10
Combat system 6/10
Open world exploration 8/10
Loot system 5/10
Side stories and exploration are where this game shines. Overall i really enjoyed it and the DLCs are good too. Give it a chance its a rather slow paced but fun game.

I'll more than likely get it next time when it goes on sale, which often does

just fucking play the game retard, wtf is wrong with you?
>>
>>719469310
Combat is 3/10, geniuinely feels like the worst part of the game.
>>
>>719468513
man if you haven't played Witcher 3 Wildhunt yet then you've been missing out

This guy is right. I started lliking the game a lot more when I switched to a controller instead of keyboard and played more laid back, enjoying the side content and forgetting about the main story. It has some good parts, but is not the main point of the game. Also basically accepting that the gameplay isn't very good and that it's more about starting linear stories in a hub world with The Walking dead gameplay for the detective stuff and some mediocre repetitive combat sprinkled in, but enjoying the music and stories to get into a nice mood. It's a nice game for jumping in and chilling a bit, then you can play something that really itches your gameplay dopamine scratch on the side.

The first DLC Hearts of stone is actually on par with the 10/10 story that people say the main game is, but itsn't and offers what's best about the witcher in a focused experience and really made me see why some consider the game 10/10 at times.

Blood and Wine is really good too, but less tight and more sprawling, but still good.

If you find yourself burned out on the main game, give it a break and come back to the DLCs. I bounced off the game hard and did just that and it made me love it.

I never understood why people got filtered by the combat. The most annoying thing about it is the Geralt autofacing enemies but otherwise it's fine.
Outside of the combat the game has some pacing problems in the last act.

Overall it's still a great game.

So overall it's a MustPlay/10?
>>
>>719472486
Nah. More like a game you might grow to love if it clicks with you and you can see past the mediocre aaa gameplay and poor open world design trends of the time shoved in with ubishit points of interests on the map.

If you're hesitant then go play BG3 or something like that if you haven't first, it's a more sure bet.
>>
>>719468513
Nigger it's like 5 bucks. Just fucking play it.
>>
>>719468513
Just don't bother. It was complete ass when it came out so I can't imagine how shit it'd feel to play now. The story is nothing special no, it has a good optional quest at the start of the game and that's about it.
>>
why do you need to "tolerate" the combat mechanics
>>
>>719473293
gotcha, thanks
>>
>>719473592
If the story is *that* good, but the combat in this 50+ hour game is mediocre, am I not right to say tolerate? I explicitly mentioned combat part, not the whole gameplay, so it's not like I should just watch cutscene of the game on youtube
>>
>>719468513
>the story in w3 is "out of this world" good that it's worth tolerating (at least from what i've seen) its combat mechanics?
FUCK NO
it's a very boring game
>>
>>719473778
its pretty good
works well for the lore and background the books establish and its much better than w1 or 2 which you surely play beforehand
>>
>>719473592
It's called fun, redditor
>>
>>719468513
the only good thing about tw3 is hearts of stone dlc, main game and b&w are so ass it's not funny
>>
>>719473778
>like I should just watch cutscene of the game on youtube
You should
>>
>>719468513
just go for a meme build that trivializes combat if you don't enjoy it. geralt is supposed to be pretty op anyway
>>
try to make the combat more fun by yourself by getting silly shit like bombs
The issue is that it takes literally forever for you to get skill points and shit. People would outright not hate witcher 3's combat if you could quickly reach the gameplay of the lategame DLCs where its actually serviceable and you get a few interesting enemies, but instead you have 60 hours of 'below serviceable' combat
>>
>>719468513
The story itself is nothing special, dialogue and characters is where this game shines.
>>
>>719468513
You shouldn't. You lack wetware requirements to enjoy the game.
>>
>>719476498
>Wetware

Hey cool, never knew there was an official term
>>
>>719476620
Jesus fuck how new are you? Kill yourself immediately
>>

New enough to be desensitized to online insults? You tell me
>>
>>719468513
You're gay and should focus on gay games instead.
>>
>>719469458
Witcher 3 combat is either better or equal to any game in any top 10 RPG list.
>>
>>719477142
yeah at launch the issue was weird movement that was laggy which made things like looting boxes ass, but then they introduced the alt movement

combat was never an issue. I guess it was one of those
>dark souls is best game ever, why are you praising witcher 3. It has worse combat? Everyone should praise dark souls
situations
>>
4.0 update making it so that you don't need to access the weapon wheel to change signs made a big difference to the combat, you can now smoothly mix swordplay with signs, pretty fun
>>
>>719468513
gonna ruin it for you
the protect spell you get in 3 makes you unbeatable
