what's your favorite zachlike game?

Probably 20th Century Foodcourt, I liked the wire programming though I never finished it as I got stuck on the sushi level
After that it would probably be Opus Magnum, then Exapunks, then I guess Kaizen

Exapunks has probably the simplest programming out of Exa/TIS-100/Shenzhen. That code-size really makes a hard challenge.
Wiring the buses in Shenzhen was pain in the ass and when your solution did not fit by one line it was heartbreaking. But everything else about the game was cute - the corporation emails, elcetronics, etc. It kept me going. TIS-100 did not have this element. But when I got to Avalon it just got way too hard for me.

What's Kaizen like? I read something about why they disbanded Zachtronics
>while we got very good at making ‘Zachtronics games’ over the last twelve years, it was hard for us to make anything else.
thinking they would just go a completely different direction, but then they made another Zach game???

Kaizen is basically simpler/easier Opus Magnum, its all square grid instead of hex, only one type of bond, no transformations and instead of rotations you just have flips with a front and back side. As for why they disbanded it seemed to be more about the business side of things with them not really liking their publisher but being unable to separate from them without disbanding the company.

You might enjoy The Signal State. It's about making logic circuits and solving puzzles using analog signals. A puzzle-oriented VCV Rack.
