are the mega man legacy collections good ports, or are we better off emulating themI like the idea of having them all in my steam library, but if they are shit ports I would not bother
>>719473905They all have some lag, but are for the most part playable. The very first one though was by Digital Eclipse before Capcom started doing them themselves and it shows.Mega Man 8 in Legacy Collection 2 is also the PS1 version and not the Saturn version. So like that could be a deal breaker if you want to fight Cut Man & Wood Man I guess. I believe the ending of 7 is also not emulated properly.I think the Eurasia RNG for X5 in X Legacy Collection 2 is also broke.
They removed the retarded SOULLESS Guns n Roses names from X5, so that's a plus

>>719473905They're decent, except for the horrible input delay in some games. You can get used to it, but it may not be the ideal way to play them.
>>719473905You can pirate them all for free. Or emulate, if that's your thing.
>>719475603Do the battle network collections have input delay?
>>719475741All games have input delay. Your monitor has input delay. Your gamepad has input delay. Your CPU/GPU/RAM/SSD has input delay. Your brain has input delay. Your muscles have input delay. The fundamental laws of physics have input delay.
>>719474570>The Maverick bosses in the original North American release of Mega Man X5 had names referencing members of the band Guns N' Roses, including Axle the Red, Duff McWhalen, Grizzly Slash, Squid Adler, Izzy Glow, Dark Dizzy, Mattrex, and The Skiver. This localization choice was made by voice actress Alyson Court and was later removed in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection to revert the bosses to their original namesLol, WTF?We blame the Americans, but the Japanese are so concerned with the integrity of their products that they don't care if the fucking voice actor decides to change the characters' names. It's like a writer not caring that the woman who does the artwork for his book decides to change the names of some characters to pay homage to some shitty band for normalfags.
>>719475971Shut up bitch. The Mega Man Collection have noticeable input delay that ruins the game.
IIRC the NES games in collections have lag and sprite flicker emulated because muh authenticity or something like this.At any rate, system requirements for all MM collections are ridiculous. My old computer, capable of running Crysis, had issues running fucking megaman zero, a gba game. This is one of the reasons I'm not going to buy them even now when I have a proper PC - they just slapped something together and called it a day. Might aswell ask for an RTX gpu at this point, because why not. Retards like >>719475971 will swallow it and defend it without expecting any financial gain.
>>719475971
>>719473905small but noticeable input delay if you want precise jumpsotherwise its fine
>>719477034Why did you post a picture of yourself?
>>719477162>small but noticeable input delayMM1's input delay is horrendous, and I don't remember if MM2 was also that bad, the rest were fine.
>>719474412>>719477162>>719477374>beat megaman 8 snowboarding section effortlessly on ps2 collection>beat it with some trouble on the switch collection>struggled with it on the Steam releaseThere's definitely something off the steam releases input delay, at least with the original collections. i also remember beating the original 4 megamans on the ps2 collection and never struggled on any of the dissapearing block segments, but having difficulty with them on the new collections. I also had more trouble on playing the first three X games on steam than i did on the switch, but that might just be placebo
The GBA collections were the best ones.
>>719473905Classic and X collections are assBN and Zero are fine
>>719481243>Collection containing the worst games are fine
>>719481303He's completely correct. On a technical level the newer collections are much better than those for X and especially Classic regardless of how you feel about the games themselves.Classic C2 might be worth picking up just for 9 and 10 but do NOT get Classic C1. Just emulate, it's fucking NES.
>>719473905the zero and battlenetwork ones are very good. dont bother with the classic and x collections>>719476189as random as it was it felt pretty fitting>>719476608desu I never noticed it but I guessing it might be more noticeable to others
TL;DR, Zero/ZX and the BN collections are good ports. In Z/ZX's case you'd be about as well off running the Zero Collection on an actual DS, but it's good if you don't have that. In the case of Battle Network it's choosing between it or fan patches, take your pick. The only thing you miss is a weird peripheral you'd have to emulate for 6.Classic 1 is all emulator, worthless. Classic 2 is running 9 and 10 natively. You can just emulate the Wii version of those two if you want, but the Collection is less hassle. Its version of 7 is emulated and they picked the *lesser* version of 8, which is also emulated. Doesn't include MM&B for some reason.X Collection 1 is only worthwhile if you want X4 with no load times. X1-3 are emulated, and not even very well. X Collection 2 is all native ports, but X5 and X6 are far better played with improvement/retranslation hacks made by the community. X7 is dogshit. It's only really worth it if you want X8 with no load times.
>>719473905The Z collection is amazing, the other are fine if you want to have the games and look at the extra stuff or be able to play with cheats on but they're not very good, some of the input delay some games have is extremely frustrating to play withthe battle network collections seem good too but I haven't played much of those yet
Really hoping for a Legends Collection eventually. A fan fixing the L1 PC port kinda made it redundant, though, since that's the best of the three games...>StarForce Collection whe-A StarForce collection is inherently going to be worse than the community fixes. It's worthless.
>>719473905It's the best way to play X7 and X8 but those games blow. You're better off emulating the NES and SNES games.
>>719475971timmycoded post
>>719473905Zero and Battle Network are good, for the others just emulate
>>719483686True, their idea of splitting up the first game into 3 separate copies was horrendous because ultimately that just means players only got access to a single form through normal gameplay. Then there's the encounter rate in 2 meshing terribly with their idea of making it more like the anime and having everything take place on more complex wave roads than have isolated comps for dungeons (so backtracking through any zone always feels like a maze with a shit ton of encounters).
zero 1 is just endless unskippable yappingare rest of the series as bad?I want gameplay, not shitty unskippable story
>>719487373They remain fairly wordy compared to the other Mega Man platformers.
>>719487373Zero is the consequence of the setting becoming insane during the X series and acknowledging the failure to reconcile reploid and human needs. Humanity created a slave race accidentally and expected them to just be ok with dying if their continued existence meant a minor inconvenience for humans.
