Thoughts on death stranding 2 so far??
>>719478743they made a sequel to that package delivery movie? fucking lmao
>>719478743full retard
i'll discuss it with you guys when the rest of the board gets access to it. i had a lot of fun, though.
Pointless retread of the first game because Kojimbo was salty that Americans didn't "get" it so he added guns and MGS references this timeSeems to have been mostly ignored
>>719478839it's a videogame with hundreds of hours of content, it's not a movie
Gameplaywise, it's pretty much an improvement on the first in almost every respect. Also impressively larger, the map size kind of makes 1's look like a joke
>>719478743I sincerely think it's the best thing Kojima has ever accomplished. It's significantly improved over the first title in all ways except mission difficulty.
The game has it all, there's just not enough of certain segments (like vehicle combat) but honestly that's something that could be added into a DLC or Director's Edition.
>>719478743Met a girl with rain powers. She's really cute.
>>719482381honestly all of the recruitment scenes are peak kino
>>719478743It's good but feels like a DLC expansion instead of a proper sequel. I want to replay it without vehicles and roads but I'm kinda burnt out right now so I'm gonna wait until DC comes out or something.
>>719482840Dollman is a fucking retard and the game would be better without him.
>>719483049Since BB is gone it's nice to have something for the post game.
>>719478743Got to first mountain place and got bored.
>>719483101Dollman is nowhere near as good as BB was.
>>719478743Having beat it, I feel like this was Kojimas "take it easy and goofy" game after he already told his message in DS1.
>>719483101>>719483161It wasn't about replacing BB it was about adding someone to the world for Sam to talk to on his journey. Dollman served a great purpose in the game and I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much without him.
>>719483575I have to disagree. I would be much happier with the game if Sam was just trekking alone with his empty BB pod, and talking to himself like he does in the first game.
>>719478743Better gameplay.Worse story. You'd have to be a Malvelfag to prefer it to the first. The first was full of flaws, but at least it was original. The second is a fucking cinecomic, the Bridges crew are the Avengers, and the ending is an over-the-top cartoon.Too stupid for me.Do you remember the crater cutscene at the beginning of DS1?Literally on another level.
Just finished it. The last hours were crazy. Still not sure what to think. The gameplay was better. You could see Kojima and his team took the criticism and made it a smoother experience. I can't help to think it lost a bit of the charm though because it became too formulaic. Story. Really not a fan of the Lou plot. Just because she later appears again doesn't make it ok.I think after DS1 Sam didn't deserve to suffer more and that is why this game retroactively makes DS1 kinda worse. I wouldn't mind a DS3 with Tomorrow though.
>>719478743Gameplay-wise: a big improvement over DS1 in terms of QoL and removing the clutter and unnecessary elements. The inclusion of a proper day-night cycle and music player makes it hard to go back. Narrative-wise: in some ways the story is better and told in a more efficient way but ultimately feels like a (unnecessary) retread of the themes of DS1 without much original social commentary you'd come to expect from Kojima. Despite many people saying "this is the most Kojima game ever" Death Stranding 2 feels like the most straightforward sequel you could get from Kojima, for better or worse. If you like DS1, you're gonna like DS2. Please Kojimbo Productions add a Director's Cut like you did for DS1 with a added difficulty, better enemy A.I. and more Low Roar songs. gwthy
This game made me realize Kojima isn't good at directing actors.
>>719488082I feel like Troy Baker as Higgs and whoever the Die Hardman actor is, are the only ones who nail their scenes. Everyone else just seem confused about what is supposed to be happening.
>>719488848>Everyone else just seem confused about what is supposed to be happeningyou mean die hardman, who was hiding in the shadow closet all game long and nobody knew was onboard, wasn't acting confused about what's going on when he came out of the shadow closet?
>>719478743Lazya) Guitars but boss fight is "Press Square to Shred" instead of a rhythm gameb) They've dropped the ball on third Neil Vana fight -- no gimmick therec) Mountain climbing is not fixed -- you can climb but can't descend so you slightly tilt a stick and pray Sam doesn't perform a leap of faith, also I don't feel that Bokka skeleton does add much and those climbing gloves are more useful for picking up cargo while driving a truckd) Express orders are done with either Coffin Board or Zip-Line -- not much room there but kinda boringAnd, of course, Kojima did respond to walking sim criticism of DS1 saying that people are narrow-minded but he did doubled the amount of action in the sequel -- that's not l'auteur move, Ubisoft or Horizon devs would do the sameAlso Dollman probably was paid by Sony because they want you to have a sidekick and I did like Sam talking only to himself in the first game
I'll tell you once it comes out in PC. Just like the previous game, it was initially sold exclusively to the mouthbreathers on Playstation so of course it didn't sell well, and it wasn't until it sold on PC and Xbox when the game became a massive hit.>>719480038this.Death Stranding is such a unique videogame that I've never seen done before. I see people call it a "AAA indie game" and it's so true, it has the charm and novelty of an indie game with the budget and depth of a AAA game. In a world where every game is basically a reskin of an Ubisoft/Bethesda open world RPG where all you do is follow waypoints and shoot/slash people, the Death Stranding games are such a breath of fresh air. Shame most players are content playing those generic RPGs I mentioned but I guess that's more their problem than it is mine
>>719488848Probably because everyone else is a Hollywood actor who just collected their check from the weird Japanese man
>>719488848Naw, the guy that played Neil was fantastic.
