To play my pc games on lunch breaks/dead hours, with a switch i'd have to rebuy the games and lose progress, which is counter intuitive.

I got so much more mileage out of my deck than my switch. The deck just has more games I would rather play, steam has better sales, and the joycons feel like shit to hold and use. Downside is the occasional Linux fuckup and the time it takes to set up non-steam games, but switch is "pay a subscription fee to play a handful of games that we want you to be able to," which doesn't hold a candle to "play all of your ROMs for free plus ROM hacks"
