The September direct is going to bring down the building, it's so good.
This will probably be the biggest direct of the console's life. They've finally caught up with demand, so they have to start actually selling the console now and this will be the big push to do that. This is their chance to define to consumers what the switch 2 is going to be. So I expect them to lay everything they've got on the table heading into the first holiday. With that said, I'm gonna predict we see the next 3D Mario and Zelda. With 3D Mario it will be the big showcase, while Zelda will just be a cutscene. The next 3D Mario will be sort of open world. A huge hub area, but not nearly as big as Zelda and unlike Zelda most gameplay will be segmented off into individual levels with entrances in the hub like Mario 64 and Sunshine. I predict this will be an absolutely massive game with the 9 years of development time it will have.

We're virtually guaranteed to see the next 3D Mario. The movie is next year and they will at least want the game ANNOUNCED before the movie, even if it doesn't release until later. That tie in is important.

That’s why they usually stick to one or two big games at a time. Right now they already have Metroid (December), Pokemon (October), Kirby (November), Hyrule Warriors (January), and Duskbloods (March) to push, plus Mario Kart and Donkey Kong DLC and the Switch 2 versions of some titles. By their standards, that’s more than enough. I’d also guess the next big release will be the Ocarina remake that was rumored last year. A twitter insider from my country who leaks things strongly hinted at it, and with the movie coming up, the timing feels right.
