It's also a bit counterintuitive to think separating from the survivors is safer, since you initially expect to have to be nearby them to help with clearing zombies off of them. It isn't obvious that being further away means there won't be zombies spawning near them, and that by giving them a waypoint it means their AI will prioritize reaching it rather than fighting zombies.
