More important than money is your time.
One should make sure every ounce of one's free time is spent on activities one finds enjoyable, for time is something no one can get more of.

Which leads me to the following question, is Witcher 3 worth one's time?
>>
>>719496669
I did not enjoy my time with it and dropped it after 20 hours or so. I couldn't see what people liked about it.

I had played W1 and W2 previously, so playing this was one of the best vidya moments ever.
Love it.
Dislike Cyberpunk however, can't believe it's the same dev.

Amazing how quickly public opinion on that game did a 180ยบ as soon as that one anime series was released.
Not a surprise though, animefags are among the top slop eaters.

Did not care for Ciri, the game would've been better without her.
>>
It alright, a better question is, will Witcher 4 surpass it?

It's ok if you like the cutscenes otherwise nowhere near the worldbuilding and fun gameplay that is Morrowind or Gothic II.

>fun gameplay
>Morrowind
I love hidden accuracy dice rolls even when my weapon's model connects with the enemy!
I love left clicking on an enemy until it's dead!

it being an open world game, it boils down to how much value there is in doing the open world shopping list.
loot stashes (which cover the map) in TW3 are painfully unrewarding, but also might contain unique alchemy recipes so you can't afford to miss them. bad use of player time.
witcher contracts, which sound like they should be brainless mercenary transactions, are actually some of the coolest and best written content in the game.
the main quest is middling with some kino. until you get to the DLC then it's all excellent.
on balance it justifies your time as long as you stick with it and see out the journey, but you need to already like the world and characters enough to want to do that

also true

I love how you learn to break these things apart in the later game and have endless power scaling possibilities.

Thanks, sounds like a decent time

it's unironically more fun than the witcher, with it's god awful combat and boring ass cutscenes

>Morrowind late game

WOWZERS

I think it is now default, but not sure
anyways don't have the ? locations show on map
or ignore them unless they are on the way
being a completionist in the matter of shitty chests and generic monsters is best way to ruin this otherwise good game for yourself

The thing is that nagging feeling of unknowingly missing out on great side content.
But I get what you're saying.

I think the primary strength and draw of the witcher games is the storytelling, dialogue, characters. It's worldbuilding is definitely decent, a bit of slavic mythology, arthurian legends, and european lore combined, which is really good for my tastes, but I think the main strength is just honestly whether you like Geralt as a character and the core cast of Ciri, Triss, Yenn, Dandelion, Zoltan, etc. I liked the game but I admit the gameplay isn't that great, it's combat is pretty whelming, and a lot of the core gameplay is "detective" work which is pretty much just holding right click and inspecting glowing trails while Geralt has monologues. It's got a lot of decent choice and consequence in dialogue options, and it feels satisfying to see how it impacts some small things in the open world, like a witch being burned because of you, or you finding a dead body later, or someone surviving because of the past game choice and having a side quest etc. The graphics are good, and especially the art direction is amazing. And it's got a really good ost, I loved the wolven storm especially after reading the books. The weak point of the game is how many little things on the map there are to do which can be overwhelming for completionists and even ruin the pacing of the game completely if you can't control yourself, but it's good to have shit to do after you beat the story. And honestly it's a pretty easy game, not really chalenging if you're a combatfag, but I heard there are good mods to fix it. If you go into it with an open mind understanding you'll get a pretty streamlined ARPG you'll probably enjoy it, if you want a souls-like or a complex CRPG you'll probably hate it, if you can't relate to Geralt or like his character and the rest of main cast you'll probably hate it. I think it's a great game, one of my faves, but again all vidya taste is subjective for the most part.

Yea

I undersold it in an attempt to be objective but subjectively it's got some of my favourite memories in gaming, just due to the world and tone. then again, I was already emotionally invested from being a fan of Witcher 1 and 2, but I think Witcher 3 works standalone

Thinking back now, I did not feel anything for the main cast. Adam Jensen seems like more of a character than Geralt. How did everybody get duped into giving a shit about Ciri or the other girls? Most people didn't play the previous games or read the books so you have no way of knowing about them and no reason to give a shit.
Now that I think about it even more I can count on one hand the characters which I gave a shit about and absolutely none of them were from the main cast/the older games/ the books.
>>
>>719496669
Yeah, except feel free to ignore every single point of interest in skellige that is in water

Can't really relate since I like the cast, and I got into witcher with TW3 and enjoyed them from the get go without having the full background or backstory for them since a lot of it is dropped through conversations or codex entries. But I did change my opinion on some things after reading the books and playing through the first two games, like disliking Emhyr after thinking he and the MILFgard empire are pretty cool on my first playthrough where I made ciri the 'press, but realizing how much of a deranged freak he is in the books ruins him completely, and Yenn becomes much more appealing and likeable imo compared to how Triss feels much better without having any book info and only playing TW3. And I think the cast is pretty strong, Lambert, Djikstra, Vesemir, Zoltan, Dandelion, Triss, Yen, Roche (my nigga), Letho, Olgierd, Regis (my nigga x2), O'Dimm, etc. It's a pretty stacked cast and pretty likeable and interesting even if you just play TW3 imo. But obviously not everyone is gonna agree, I personally haven't got into Deus ex, only played the first game and HR for like 2-3 hours and dropped both because I couldn't get into them. One thing they got in common is that Adam and Geralt both have cringe voices in EN.

I really liked the other witchers.
They do seem turbo melancholic, the whole area around the castle seemed like that to me. Enough so that it kinda took me by surprise compared to the rest of the game.
You have this absolutely run down shell of an academy which used to be filled to the brim with witchers and now everything is in disrepair. If you explore around everything else is long destroyed. It was really sad learning about Lambert and the others just coming by the castle once or twice a year or spending a winter in that crumbling place.

The quest where you do the whole coming of age witcher trial is horrible (as in it made me feel horrible). You kill that big bad monster that killed so many kids before like it was nothing. No more witchers can be made, everything is dying. It felt absolutely devastating when compared to the rest of the game.

You are taken from the lively city of Novigrad and dropped straight into the ending of LOTR where magic is leaving the world.

I honestly still think Kaer Morhen would be really fucking cozy during winter, isolated place, tall in the mountains, you stock up on food, drink, and you just chill with your witcher bros, play some cards, fuck some witches, fortify and fix up the place. But it is kind of run down and abandoned, especially by the end of TW3 with all that happens to the wolf witcher boys, would've honestly loved it if you could have a sequel in TW4 where you play as a witcher trained by Geralt and helping restore the school of the wolf and bring Kaer Morhen back to it's prime, but that's kinda rip considering Ciri can't really pass the trials I'm assuming and Geralt is kind of retired in Not-france. Witchers lead a hard life, and they're kinda treated like shit by pretty much everyone, but I like the cozyness and gruffnes off it. And it makes it all the better when you meet another one of the witcher bros out on a mission, or when you reunite with them on Kaer Morhen.
