Left 4 dead has come back from the dead
>>719498325i guess you could say its back 4 blood
>>719498325It will be shitIndustry devs who branch out to make something based off their lightning in a bottle IP always make something retarded or mediocre on their own.
>>719498794came to post this
>>719498794I was gonna say, didn't this already happen? Lmao
It just don't work without the valve sauce
There will be mods and community servers right?...right?
>coop shooterI always played these games alone...
>>719498325What if left for dead but also a retarded card system?
It never died retard
>>719498794Kek, fpbpHe had nothing to do with that though, which is probably why it was trash.
>>719499071if there aren't custom sprays and public voice chat enabled by default i'm not playing
>>719498325This time for sure
>>719498325>>719498794
>next bigdead on arrival
>>719498882No, it didn't. By the time Back 4 Blood (or even just Evolve) came out, most of the people that actually made L4D work had long since left Turtle Rock Studios. Mike Booth specifically is actually one of the most important people regarding L4D, as he was amazing at making enemy bots/AI and is responsible for the Director that defined the original games (he's also one of the gods that's responsible for the gigakino that is Nox). Him and the actual worthwhile people at Turtle Rock, which had all left after L4D2, were what made those games work, not Valve as some niggers like to imply (which is especially funny for them to do, because we've already seen what the contributors from the Valve side of things have done since then: it's called The Anacrusis, and there's a reason you've heard of it even less than B4B)So this is the first time that a L4D successor is actually being made by one of the people that had actually properly worked on it, rather than just grifters.
>>719498794
>>719499908Yeah this guy is the real deal but I just want L4D3
>>719498325How to make proper L4D clone:>No leveling up>No stupid progress like leveling or cards or whatever zoomer shit>Just drop in, grab guns, kill zombiesUnfortunately it will probably have everything wrong in it.
>>719500175you forgot the skins, the unnecessary microtransactions, excessive weapon modification, power ups and emotes
>>719499908Hell, Mike Booth is responsible for creating a lot of the AI bot technology that has become standard in the industry to this day (Counter Strike's offline bots are his creation). He worked on Red Alert 2 and C&C Generals also. There's no denying he's legit. But he needs to get the band back together so to speak to really make a true L4D successor.
>>719498325>og creator of l4d>what made l4d specialis gonna be shit isnt?
>>719500175L4D3 on Source 2 with day 1 workshop support and an SDK to make mods with is all I need so it stands to reason that it will never happen.
>>719500690Ehh, it’s the only multiplayer genre I still have any faith in. All he has to do is make a coop mode like old l4d, and make a secondary deep rock galactic/hell divers type of mode if he wants to appeal to zoomers. But even just a straight 1:1 of l4d1/2 would be perfect imo.
>>719499908>>719500025>>719500661Phil Robb and Chris Ashton were real deal core contributors of L4D too but that didn't stop B4B from failing. Not to knock on Mike Booth because I'd rate him even higher than Robb and Ashton on contributing to L4D, but games never fall on a single guy's shoulders, and also depend on a lot of outside factors than just the developers. Even if you got all 3 to come back together it wouldn't work. Even if you got every original contributor back together it wouldn't work. You can't catch lightning in a bottle twice even if you use the exact same bottle.
>Its a original creator makes le shitty love letter and spirtual successor episode
>>719500895i mean more in the sense of every time they announce this type of games with "og creators" “spiritual successor” "going back to the roots" "what make the game special" it just ends on a bland shitty wannabe game that is forgotten after one week
>>719499908>Mike Booth specifically is actually one of the most important people regarding L4DYeah, just like Glen Schofield... and Tomonobu Itagaki... and Keiji Inafune... You're never gonna learn, are you?
>>719501132this
>>719501056Yeah, you’re definitely not wrong. I think a lot of anons are right where nobody ever takes into account how these named devs solo pale in comparison to the actual dev team of their peak years, which is always greater than the sum of their parts.
Valve should just make 3Even if it doesn't turn out the way I want it, I want it.
The thing is we don't need a L4D3 for the same reasons we don't need a Marathon 4 or new game in the Doom engine. It's piss-easy to make your own shit. We're even nearing people managing to make real total conversions like Nightmare (quality of said mod notwithstanding) and custom special infected/survivors with Vscript.
>>719498325Back 4 Blood electric boogaloo
>>719501132This. Booth did crest the Director AI which is obviously a huge component of L4D’s greatness but there’s so much more to the game than just how it dynamically throws hordes of zombies at you. So unless Booth has an idea of how to make the next generation of the Director that will be a similar level of innovation then whatever game he makes won’t be as good as L4D.
>>719501516Realistically what new things could they add to a l4d3 aside from new graphics so it can actually be something new and not juts like workshop mod
>>719501035with groundbreaking graphics made by UE5 not optimized
>>719500724Eh, Valve is actually making games again so it’s possible. The problem is that for them to be interested it’d have to have some kind of noticeable innovation over L4D2 for them to care.
>>719501648In my opinion, THE most important part of L4D is the writing/characters, which can be owed largely to Chet Faliszek, who did indeed make his own L4D (the Anacrusis) and it fucking sucked. So honestly there's no hope. If not even the writer could replicate the magic, no one will
>>719498794incredible
>>719501719A day and night cycle. Open world. A wider variety of special infected and weapons
>>719501648>but there’s so much more to the game than just how it dynamically throws hordes of zombies at youNot really, no.
>>719501959>A day and night cycle. Open world.why do zoomers fuck with this shit, not every game needs an open world and shitty day cycles
>>719501132>names a bunch of designers and artists, not the actual developersWhen are YOU gonna learn
>>719502083I'm just repeating what Valve themselves were planning back in like 2012 when the scrapped L4D3 stuff leaked. You have zoomer derangement syndrome
>>719502115So what exactly did Mike Booth do, he was a programmer?
Reminder that L4D2 is a terrible coop game and it's only good as a competitive versus titlet. expert at the game>>719501818>In my opinion, THE most important part of L4D is the writing/characters, Shut the fuck up you Valve cocksucking retard retard.
>back 4 blood 2i didn't even love l4d2, game has diminishing returns per entry it seems
>>719501818L4D has great character and a ton of memorable lines but I when I think of L4D I think of how great the level design is and how perfect the special infected are and how great it feels to shoot zombies. Games are always greater than the sum of their parts.
>>719502176>2 hours>expertlmao
>>719502162>were planning back in like 2012 when the scrapped L4D3Thank good they realized how shitty was that
>>719502036retard
>>719502282>t. expert at the gameIronically this destroys your credibility. Faggots with thousands of hours in a game always hate it because they're mentally ill self-loathing autists. Like speedrunners. Just play games like normal people so you can enjoy them like normal people
>>719502360>2 hoursLook at it again sunshine
Recommended reading:https://www.gamedeveloper.com/design/15-years-later-chet-faliszek-dishes-on-the-making-of-left-4-dead>"September 7, 2005, at 1:10 p.m." This was the exact moment he was formally introduced (via e-mail) by his boss, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, to Turtle Rock Studios founder Mike Booth, to “consult” on a new, Valve-funded video game project. Its codename at the time was “Terror.”>Faliszek was a novice staffer at Valve at this point, joining the company earlier in the year, but he had a good hunch about this lead. Speaking in both the past tense and present, Faliszek offers the following about the man at the other end of that e-mail chain: "If Mike Booth said he was releasing a video game tomorrow, I would buy it.”
>>719502268He literally created the Director AI that runs the game dumbass. >>719502282Games are not made for you. Go find some other autistic fixation.

>>719498325>back4blood>2
>>719502454>Just play games like normal people so you can enjoy them like normal peopleThey cant. Their fixation doesn’t allow them to.
>>719502470I just want to say that Chet Faliszek is probably one of the biggest faggots I've ever seen in my life. One glance at his Bluesky will inform you how deeply mentally ill he is. Literal dysfunctional disheveled schizo. Never meet your heroes I guess
>>719501035Seriously the only one of these I've seen that wasn't complete dog shit was Bloodstained, everything else has been a shit show.
Bad Robot Faggots didnt send their best
>>719498325If he was really good at his job he wouldn't be referencing a game he worked on a decade ago. This is peaked in high school equivalent for the gaming industry
>>719498817spbpsad but true
>>719502693is that like bad dragon but sci-fi?
>>719502731It's what he's most famous for. After his Phil and Chris left Valve to reform Turtle Rock, Mike stayed at Valve where he worked on Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike GO, again on bots as AI seems to be his passion. He left Valve in 2016.
>>719498794came to read this
>>719498325bro, just fucking make left 4 dead 3, jesus h. fucking christ, can't anyone count to three anymore, or what?
>>719502874Exactly. All his work is over a decade old.
>>719502406You're retardedThe defining thing about L4D is the way the horde is controlled, how the infected navigate and attack, and how the Special Infected act as enemy player bots. That is ALL Mike Booth. It's a solid foundation that makes it so that playing on empty bullshit maps from the Workshop with all the characters replaced with 2hu models is still a fun experience, because everything else can be stripped away
>>719498794>not back 4 blood 2
>>719498325>the next big-aaaannd it's gonna be shit stop trying to be the next big thing
>>719502987>because everything else can be stripped awayNo, L4D is popular because of the characters. No Coach, no Ellis, no Francis, no Louis = no L4D
>>719502874>He left Valve in 20162012*
>>719502985Looks like he was at Blizzard and Facebook after Valve, so clearly he has more recent work.
>>719503169But it's not as good so he's clearly not referencing it. Ergo peaked.
>>719499908Ok MikeYou've got something to prove, prove it and win us all over
>>719503246Mike Patton is the superior L4D Mike anyways
>>719498325the "new" L4D won't even be better than the Tide games, you'll see
>>719503169>clearly he has more recent workDemeoWeird WestMoonbreakerSilent Hill AscensionLOL
>>719502282>doesnt even have 100% cheevos
>>719503594this wtf, how do you have over 2k hours and not have this completed?
>>719502987This is adjacent to “characters are just functions”.
>>719499908inb4 Booth's game flops and the next "real" mind behind L4D announces their spiritual successor.
>>719504197Booth and his AI Director legitimately might be the last possible one. Unless someone's going to be desperate enough to point to Randy Lundeen and his art direction as being the "real" foundation of what made L4D great. (Ashton and Robb represented level and game design, Faliszek represented story and writing.)
>>719504005Which is also true in like, 90% of games. The only reason you attribute that phrase with failure is because it was mentioned in regards one of the few games that was actually more about the faces than the function, but for you to recognize this would require more than an iota of brainpower, and you're spending the only one you've got on trying to be snippy. Go back to tw*tter with your fag shit.
>>719498325If Valve isn't involved I don't care. We all saw what turtle rock did with the same concept, and it fucking sucked.
>Booth and his AI Director™
>>719498325>He wants to build on what made L4D specialThat was Valve tard wrangling the project and being 80% of the staff that finished it
>>719503012>not back 5 blood
>>719504603>ValveI will never understand why people arbitrarily assign value to brands. What is Valve? The name of a company? If I joined Valve tomorrow, does that make me Valve? The Valve that made Half-Life, TF2, and L4D isn't the Valve of today. All of those people are gone now, besides Gabe himself. But Gabe isn't Valve. And let's be real, even if you gathered up all of those people, their game would still probably be shit, because they're all washouts decades past their prime
>>719504815My lizard brain told me that Valve made good stuff back then, and makes alright stuff right now as I'm obsessed with Deadlock.CS2 sucking so bad is definitely evidence against that though. You are right, however, that I shouldn't be a drone. That being said, I still have zero faith in this project.
>>719504815Even Gabe is gone from Valve aside from being an absentee majority stake owner. He founded a bunch of other companies and spends all day on his yacht working remotely on those. But yes, the whole brand loyalty thing is ridiculous. When Valve bought Turtle Rock, they all became "Valve," so why doesn't the "Valve" halo extend to them?
>>719504815>because they're all washouts decades past their primeJust like Mike Booth
>>719498325Many games have already expanded and improved on the L4D formula.Deep Rock Galactic, Helldivers 2, Vermintide, etc.
>>719505106>when Valve bought Turtle Rock, they all became "Valve," so why doesn't the "Valve" halo extend to them?>he doesn't know the dark dark truthYou're still right about the brand loyalty thing though.
>>719505113
>>719500942>You can't catch lightning in a bottle twice even if you use the exact same bottle.says you
>>719502282>controller
>>719505009CS2’s problem is that it was run by a skeleton crew of barely a dozen people. Rumor has it that the team size has increased and that’s why the most recent updates have been a lot better at fixing problems.
>>719505220None of those are actually as good as L4D2 btw. The skill ceiling is too low.
