9.5, not quite Ghosts n Goblins level but this game is supreme bullshit

It's difficult by Zelda standards, but it's not really all that hard. Finding one of the towns is pretty bullshit, though. The clues about it are pretty vague, and there's no indication that it needs to be uncovered by chopping trees down, when every other secret location just requires you to walk onto the correct tile.

unbeatable/10 for me

Harder than Dark Souls

Whereas Zelda 1's difficulty lied mostly on finding hidden areas, the entire difficulty of the second is solely on enemy patterns. Most of them punish you too hard for simple mistakes. I sooner beat almost every other Zelda than this one.

4/10 most of the game
9/10 final dungeon

4/10 in it's original form
7/10 due to crryptic NES localization bullshit

This game is so confusing! When the hell does it take place? Which Zelda did I rescue? Where the hell's my boomerang?

Zelda 2 is average

I thought the 2nd dungeon was very hard. The rest of the game got gradually easier until the final palace. Losing all your exp if you quit the game sucked. It's probably much easier if you play it on an emulator.

The Death Mountain difficulty spike is way too large & early.
