If you consider Samus to be a mostly-silent, hardened veteran of many battles who has seen and caused a lot of death...and if you remember her parents were murdered in front of her and she's part bird alien...I think it's viable. The short hair marks her as an active combatant in what passes for that universe's military, and I like the touch of her right hand having connection points for the gun. The worst detail is really the eyebrow notch if only because it's become so cliche.
