This game actually looks really fun. I lovd the art style, the music sounds great, and the combat looks superb.
The only negative things I've heard is that the post game is incredibly grindy, but that's not a massive issue for me personally. The English localization is also terrible I hear, but thats (sadly) not very surprising. I'm probably gonna get it, but even still; what's the general opinion on the game?

It was fun when I played it at launch.
Horribly unbalanced characters but if you dont care you can just play whatever and clear everything
>>
it's good but the online is dead because retards pirated it and/or cheated to skip the grind
>>
Low budget jank
>>
I should also ask; is single player a viable option? Or is multiplayer an important facet to the games experience?
>>
>>719518526
>low budget jank
Jank sounds fun, and inflated budgets usually indicate a games quality (the higher, the shittier).
>>
>>719518552
You probably can single player the whole thing but it was built with the idea that you would be playing multiplayer
>>
>>719518552
single player is fine, it just means you have to gear up more characters so they can be used as CPU allies in battles
in fact they can get geared and be made strong enough to clear the game while you AFK
>>
>>719518317
I didn't play it for long because it just felt like a shitty musou game to me.
>>
>>719518512
It's dead cause it isn't updated anymore.

>>719518552
Single player is very viable. The AI is actually really good at surviving, better than most human players actually. Only thing is you have to grind more for their equips
>>
>>719518317
It was surprisingly fun and quite action-packed. I liked it a lot.

GOTY, pure distilled fun and tight controls. Beautiful women and cool men. once you wind a character that clicks, its so damn fun. only problem was the story isnt as in depth as typical jrpgs. short but sweet. also Id's mom is hot.

>only problem was the story isnt as in depth as typical jrpgs.
I'd actually go as far to say the games story was kind of bad. Every other aspect of GBFRL is topnotch, so it's not that bad if you don't need your games to have phenomenal stories all the time.

It is incredibly fun, much more than wilds was, i was completely blown away by every boss one upping the previous one, the music is top tier, the gameplay is flawless, it is worth every penny even as a single player experience, you listed the main problems of localization being complete ass and grindy end game (not really a problem for 90% of the game).
if you can get a group of friends to play together its even better since MP is completely dead
>>
It's fun. I wish visions of Mana had Relinks snappy combat.

Main issue with the AI is that it has bad dps up-time but keeping it up is part of why a lot of human players die anyway.

I bought it at release, something I rarely do. It was a lot of fun. Even played co-op with some anons here which is even more rare. The combat and music were pretty kickass. I'd say get it if you're in it mainly for the combat and like trying different characters
>>719519509
It had surprisingly good presentation/spectacle but I'd call the story mediocre. Or serviceable in a good way. At least it doesn't overstay its welcome, something I can't say about many games these days. Especially more conventional JRPGs

The magical life of a sky pirate...
>>
>>719518317
Lol looking how things went with wilds and how elden ring nightreign was successful and doing great you look back at it and say cygames made a massive fumble with this game it just needed more content updates the game would be avg 10-15k players on pc then you look into adding crossplay the game still had legs

i do still think we are getting a expansion at some point

What Final Fantasy XII should have been.

>it needs more content updates
>i hate live service games btw
>i pirated the game btw
lmao fuck off and stop hanging around the granblue fest chats expecting more content
>>
>>719524018
Lol but i do love live service games especially with a game that was getting better with updates
>>
it really is just like if someone made a single-player gacha game and removed the gacha. despite being "high-quality" it still feels like a mobile game with how the mission and reward structures all work. it reminds me a little of ff type 0, although it is better than that dogshit
>>
>>719524221
Thats like saying Phantasy Star Online feels like a mobile game.
>>
Why the fuck did Cygames let this game die?
>>
>>719518317
Fuck all ARPGs. Wasted.
>>
>>719524318
because it's a waste of resources. It already faced several delays in production and people still pirated it

Making Relink a live service game would've required a major commitment of resources that would've taken away manpower from CyGames' other projects like Awakening, GAMM and Metal Max. It also would've required a bunch of people to stay on the Granblue IP when it seems like the creative leads at CyGames want to move on from that.

CyGames is now over a decade old and while they've had notable successes, they're now heading into a stage of their studio's life where they want to move on to new challenges, but also want to be as successful as their previous ventures. That means the different teams in the company are fighting over talent and resources to make their project the next big CyGames hit.

Granblue is old, to both audiences and the developers. The last thing I think most employees at CyGames want to do is have to work on another Granblue Project for 5-10 years when they could be part of any of those other projects that are probably a lot more exciting from a development point of view.

I doubt Relink will even get a sequel.

Congratulations. You just called yourself out. Good job being a shitter.

It was GOTY 2024 next to Kunitsu-Gami but as someone who waited all 9 years for it, it does have some issues like terrible balance (replaying bosses later makes them total pushovers where you can kill them without engaging with their mechanics, and one overpowered player can invalidate the boss for everyone else, so I recommend playing with people at the same level or with the AI so you can actually engage with the bosses), and some issues of depth (I wish the basic moves on characters had more depth), but overall it was an amazing game and I really hope they make a worthy sequel to it. Easily a top 20 game for me after waiting so long for it after the first announcement.

Zero is peak gaming, beating that boss was one of the greatest online experiences of my life
