There was a controversy recently where the developers rebelled because the lead told them to stop stuffing politics into the games. They accused him of being a neo-nazi for not wanting every character to be gay. I think that should give you an idea of how extremely woke those sequels are.

If you do want to switch it up a bit, the game (original at least, no idea about remaster) looks great in black and white by setting your screen saturation to 0. Most games, even ones with in-game black and white modes like LA Noire and The Last of Us, are nearly unplayable and look like garbage desaturated because there's no contrast in the gray tones. Life is Strange's more stylized art direction and fixed camera angles for all of the conversations give the visuals way more contrast than most games, so it looks pretty good.

Really makes me miss the simplicity of those times. Waterfalls can make me tear up if I just sit there and listen to it, reflecting on my past. Every other installment has been a big disappointment, nothing moreso than Double Exposure. It was a game filled with leftwing ideologies but always challenged them internally with their own characters, and was never preachy about it. Everything that came after felt like a lecture, or was so gay it was offputting. It's also something that's intangible and hard to put into words as to why it works as well as it does, whether it's just me being blinded by nostalgia, and that I'd upturn my nose at the game if it was released today, or that is encompassed SOUL or /vibes/ that one can't quite put into words. Either way it gripped me, and I still think about it ten years later.

Thinking back on it it's total shit, even at what it's trying to be it's just fucking awful. The Tine Peaks ripoff plot is inane nonsense, the characters are flat and one dimensional, the setting is just Twin Peaks, the resolution is offensive to the entire idea of choice in games, and it's clear the writers never had any idea where it was supposed to go in the first place. It's success comes entirely from centering the focus of the game around cute young White girls, that's it and that's entirely accidental because you can see that every game DontNod has made since hasn't been about that.
