Metal Gear Solid

>game gives you infinite weapons
>they all have scientifically balanced dps

Funny enough, it sorta doesn't. In a lot of of the games it feels like "since you CAN do it the hard way, you HAVE to." Except V that gives you a demon horn and bloody clothes, if that's really a penalty.

MGS 3 makes you feel bad cause it shows you the ghosts of all the people you killed, also pretty sure some of the radio dialog is different in sons of the games if you kill lots of people

I haven't done a single run with non-forced kills on ANY metal gear games and i feel like i've been cheated out of an experience.

DXHR strongly pushes you towards nonlethal stealth but gives you plenty of cool shit and takedown animations etc. for other less supported playstyles.

Payday 2 where going stealth is faster, safer, gives you more bonuses and most autists don't play loud, dunno about the state of the game now, but the fact that even my friends refused to go loud on overkill and listen to that awesome soundtrack made me quit
>>
>>719529393
2 gave you more non-lethal gadgets and tools and also allows you to make non lethal takedowns during combat at least.

I feel like MGS wasn't really supposed to be a no-kill game and it just came around later because the fans like it as a challenge. The whole theme of the first game is snake constantly going UGH I'M SO JADED and liquid going HAHA SNAKE YOU SICK FUCK. None of that lands if you're actually playing bloodlessly. Same reason the games tend to have big shootout segments where you kind of just have to not shoot back if you're going pacifist.

Iji. All weapons are lethal and range from grenade machineguns to a whole screen nuke. The enemy deployments are stronger and you get shittalked and your moral views questioned in cutscenes if you terminate everything that moves like in a video game. But the non-jingo enemies outright ally with you if you don't shed blood.
>>
Dark Souls is the only game I know where the weapon upgrades besides the standard one is so unbelievably dogshit compared to the standard.
>>
>>719528085
You're not penalized for killing them but in Mega Man ZX, the bosses have weak points and if you hit the weak points then you're fucking yourself over since the weapon you get from them will have less energy. If you use the weapon they're weak against then you'll almost certainly hit a weak point, so it's best just to use your buster and be careful. At the very least it makes you feel extremely powerful in the boss rush when you don't have to worry about weak points anymore and can just shred them.

>>719530291
non standard Weapons upgrades are for low SL characters save for raw which is absolute dogshit and worse than standard on every single weapon
some weapon upgrades in stalker, like night vision on rifles with integrated scopes are also dogshit at best, detrimental at worst
>>
>>719529915
Its purely because of the ranking systems rewarding nonlethal
>>
Anyone saying Dishonored is retarded. In the most explicit sense you're "penalized", but the penalty provides unique content for the game, so I'd argue it's a reward.
>>
>>719530789
It's hard to shake everyone calling you a sicko like it's not the developers stance too, cause you were supposed to send the boss away to be raped instead of shooting them.
>>
>>719530291
If you're spec'd into a magic build the magic and enchanted paths aren't bad, though enchanted is much weaker IIRC. They still pale in comparison to stuff like Velka's Rapier or MLGS though. Haven't finished my Cleric or Pyromancer builds yet so no comment on those.

kek, it is funny how the Low Chaos options can be pretty barbaric. In DS2 you have to shock that guys brain until he's retarded instead of killing him because you're The Hero.

Came for this one, but granted it gives you at least as many tools for knocking a motherfucker out for the week.

>punch guy in back of head
>guy 2 feet from him doesn't notice
>stab guy with arm swords
>entire 3 mile radius now knows exactly where you are
I always found this retarded, you already receive less xp for lethal as a natural consequence
>>
>>719528085
Deltarune. The penalty is I feel bad.
Spec Ops: The Line. The penalty is the game fails to make me feel bad.
>>
>>719529801
>friends refused to go loud on overkill
Just curious did you and your friends play when overkill was the highest difficulty? I'd understand if they refused to play on Death Sentence difficulty
>>
>>719530291
dark souls 2 meta is dark weapon hex on lightning infused weapons while using as little of the damage boosting stats for those damage types as you can get away with. it was a weird case where enemies have a large innate %physical damage reduction but low resistance for these elemental attributes (due to armor not giving much resistance and having no innate resistance maybe?) so at least in that game its more of a toss up between hard physical damage or dipping into multiple damage types.
I dont think there are any enemies with a sizable health pool that have a resistance to dark damage in the base game so doing a dark infusion and then using dark weapon (50 raw adr and a 20% boost to dark attribute damage) essentially bypasses the physical damage reduction and gives you a massive damage multiplier.
Hexes in general will let you faceroll the game anyways so at that rate you are already trivializing most of the combat by the time you can even use dark weapon you are probably better off going full hexcuck anyways.

HR/MD just grossly favors pacifist

Hearing Iji go from apologizing as she kills xenos to reveling in their deaths is pure ludokino and not at all a punishment.
>>
>>719531169
Yeah it was back before the game went f2p, like a decade ago.
