I don't get the appeal of Astro Bot. Isn't it just another 3D platformer?
okay
>>719528589>game the>of yearwhat the fuck does that mean?
>>719528589>Isn't it just another 3D platformer?“Just another 3D platformer” is what you refer to a mario game. Astro Bot on the other hand, it’s something else entirely
>>719528589high quality 3d platformers are rare. let alone ones with a decent budget. it was the first high quality 3d platformer since mario oddysey.
i don't have a ps5 so i haven't played it but it looks fun, especially since i enjoy platformers
>>719528589It's a PS5 exclusive that's an actual game instead of a movie. That's it.

>>719530418nothing, just giving you a heads-up
>>719528589It was a game that didn't intimidate game journalists whatsoever while also giving them the illusion of being a capable gamer.
>>719528589no, it's not even a good platformer, at least as far as platforming goes. it's a gimmick based platformer rather than a schmoovement based platformer, so it's designed to be played through once, mined of novelty, totally disposable experienceIn terms of its appeal, it's mostly just a member-berry fest for people who think references are the height of culture. They see an IP they recognize and enjoy the experience of having recognized something. It's just that and a series of setpieces. I like 3D platformers, don't get me wrong. Astrobot just isn't a particularly impressive one, especially when you consider the exact same devs did everything better the first time around with playroom. It's weird they were rewarded for rehashing everything in a more accessible but less impressive format.

>>719530387Anon, the ass is fat. It doesn't matter.
>>719528589It's a good 3D platformer when none of those exist nowadays. You speak as if these sorts of games are even common. It's not common anymore outside of Nintendo. Indie scene can't meet it's polish at the very least.
