I just beat this purely so I can shit on it without people deflecting. How the fuck is this highly rated on anything? This game felt like it had no respect for my time.>"Oh what's this, you think you figured out how to solve this really cool puzzle?">"Well okay, I'll just shuffle this deck of cards until you get a straight-flush to show up within the first 20 cards, and we'll keep doing that over and over and over again until it does. THEN you can *maybe* get a chance to look at this puzzle in full."
>>719529597yeah turns out making a relatively simple puzzle game makes retards feel like big brains if you lock solving the puzzles behind RNG
>>719529597It has a cool style but it falls prey to the “fuck it lets make everything a roguelite” trend
I watched aliensrock's playthrough on YouTube and I expect it's how the progression is meant to go in the developer's brain. However, I feel like he definitely had people giving him hints because he figures basically everything out by day 60.
>>719529597I really wanted to play it, because i like stuff like The Witness, but all the talk of RNG really just made me ignore it.
Another thread, another group of retards who reveal themselves by ranting about RNG in a game that has low RNG and literal guides that tell you how to game selection in it. I'll be drinking your tears from my thrones again, thanks.
>>719530875Nigga if i have to use a guide to gane the RNG then thats not good game design
>>719530962You need a guide?kek
>>719530962You don't, but apparently doing multiple runs and learning where rooms will or won't show up and understanding how to remove options from a pool needs to be explained because you retards are too stupid to figure it out without LITERAL IN-GAME GUIDES telling you how to do it. And you still whine!
>>719529597You didn't have to play more than 1 hour to know this game was shit OP.I'm convinced you guys are masochistics
It's because the head jew, leader of all games journalists hyped the game. Then to seem like an intelligent individual every other games journalist had to fall in line and pretend the Emperor has clothes on.
>If I have to use information provided by the game that's bad game designtell me what your definition of "beating" the game was
Blue Prince is a good game if you stop at Room 46. Unfortunately, it provides a ton of hooks that any halfway observant player will pick up on and ask "was that really it?", leading to them playing even more of the game and getting to the part where it starts to fall off. The more you play past Room 46, the worse it gets. You rely on only a few rooms spawning because you have 3 or 4 routes of thinking left that necessitates them. Your rewards for solving things dry up. You get blue notes on rank 8 blue rooms, but 95% of them are fucking worthless or contain information you already know. There was no reason for this. All that had to be done was giving the player a much higher degree of control over rooms either immediately or soon after completing Room 46, the main goal of the game, plus crafting more substantial rewards that fed into this as you continue to knock out postgame puzzles that ramp up in difficulty. This didn't happen. So if you go into this game thinking that it's going to be like Outer Wilds or La-Mulana or anything even remotely similar that has advanced puzzles, you're going to get that, but you will get none of the payoff past a certain point, and it sucks ass. Everyone who seriously considers this a GOTY stopped before they even got their first bread crumb leading them to the blue maze. If they beelined the blue throne, that might still make it a great game. But the more you play, the more it wears on you, because it could have been incredible but falls on its face several times over.
>>719530718>>719530875RNG going bad goes both ways. I wound up beating it on day 27 because I just had a RETARDED lucky run that day. I didn't even solve the chess puzzle or open the basement door properly. Just one lucky boi.
>>719531346I didn't 100% the game or play past Room 46, but I definitely would have felt way less frustrated with it if at some point it just gave me 6 options instead of 3. Also the existence of the Archive makes the Southern Cross constellation cancer. Your day is just straight ruined if you are forced to plop an Archive down.
It is kino.
>>719531905Red rooms are another pretty consistent issue. There are a few ways around them, but you never get away from the problem of "I don't want to fucking use a red room right now", and even the crown, if you go out of your way to get it, is a sidestep of the issue. There should be upgrades and reasons to use all of them, but Archive and at least four others are virtually never worth placing. It's more annoying RNG in what is basically a solved game by the 60 hour mark. At that point, all you're doing is working on puzzles and hints while you grind out blue rooms on rank 8 hoping that the next one will tell you something good. It becomes routine to dismiss and reroll any non-optimal room, and if you run out of resources to reroll, it's just obnoxious.
>>719531749I'm not talking about beating the game. That guy got basically everything including opening the 8 doors in the basement and opening the blue door behind the boxes by day 60. The odds of doing that are so insanely low without some help.
>>719529597It’s a “game” for “journalists,” they feel clever for as long as they played despite the fact their time was ultimately wasted. And no, you didn’t “beat” the game either. You just endured inane RNG until you couldn’t anymore. The only way to “beat” a “game” like that is to just hack it
the family core is BULLSHIT
>>719531346Room 46 is the point at which I thought the game was garbage. I wasted time going through the sigil rooms, which was even worse, and then it picked up with the blue maze stuff. When you solve the blue maze, it drops off a fucking CLIFF. Because all of a sudden all the leads dry up. You've got a bunch of clues for things that you thought you'd eventually find a use for, so you wander around for another few hours, then datamine the game to discover that, no, actually, the game already ended, it just didn't bother telling you. It's a 5/10 until you're past sigil cancer, a 7/10 when you're solving the actual puzzles, and then a 2/10 when it all leads absolutely nowhere because the game is unfinished dogshit.
I get the impression it's like La Mulana where the base gameplay is really solid but the later puzzles are just based on making far fetched connections and each theory takes 30-60 minutes to try
>>719532946Wrong, because La-Mulana gives you tools to go immediately try things, you can warp and reach any room within a few minutes to try something
>>719532946I thought most of the puzzles in La-Mulana were way more logical than some of the shit in Blue Prince. So much of the shit in Blue Prince is ambiguous and to even test out any of the things you think it could be takes hours.
>>719532551>game gives end credits after Room 46>game gives title drop after Throne or the Blue Prince>game gives fucking NOTHING upon finding Auravei's Final Deed>not even at least a cutsceneWhat the fuck did they mean by this. Also my biggest qualm with the Blue Maze is that it's just Mora Jai and Portraits. For a final puzzle gauntlet I was hoping for more of everything. Some Parlor Boxes, some Dart Boards, some Symbol Chests with Notes, maybe even some worldbuilding questions a la Final Exam. It was a shame.
>>719533690Everything involving the actual plot is resolved when you open the box past the 8 doors, and you barely get anything between that point and the reveals about the heist anywayThey legitimately made this game and said "yeah your mom just fucked off and if you keep obsessing over it then lol"
I know this game is trying SO hard to be a metroidbrainia but every single one of its grand reveals feels more like pointless trivia and less like a recontextualizing of the nature of the world. You start off thinking "red bad blue good" and end up thinking "red bad blue good" still. The only difference is you get to figure out where your grandpa went on his lavish vacation around the world. Why did you do that again? Well...BECAUSE YOU JUST DO OKAY? And by you I mean YOU, the person playing the game because the sigil puzzle wouldn't be an actual puzzle to anyone who lived in that world.
>>719533690>What the fuck did they mean by thisThe game is literally unfinished.
>>719529597there's a lot of ways to mitigate rng, so yeah, you're a dumbass who barely played the game
>>719535395>ummm it just worked on my PC bro, just get luckyNot a defense
>>719535395>What do you mean this game is dumb? Just get the upgrades that turn off the main feature of the game. THEN it gets fun!I can tell thinking is not the strong suit of Blue Prince players.
>>719530875>in a game that has low RNGI'm going to come over to your house and flick your nips, I'm going to whisper terrible things to your mother
>>719532046http://www.intotheabyss.net/room-45/Someone linked this and I started to understand the influence and the dogshit puzzles
>>719530875>low RNGhow about having NO rng?How about just playing a game without the chance of having your progress set back?Any RNG that can set you back in a game is and always will be retarded.
>>719529597Ahem...FILTERED.
>>719531749Day 27 to reach the backroom is slow as fuck. Not opening the basement door is concerning and warrants a visit to a psychiatrist.
>>719537428>Day 27 to reach the backroom is slow as fuck.Seems pretty below par to me.
I stopped at the keys. I knew where the one i was missing was at (mid level water with the boat), but I messed up several times with this puzzle, esp the boat being on the wrong side.. and sometimes the level change room not appearing, that it made me quit.great game but some of the later game puzzles killed me (the exam..)
>>719529597>I just beat this purely so I can shit on it without people deflectingTo know the vintage and quality of a wine one need not drink the whole cask. It must be perfectly easy in half an hour to say whether a book is worth anything or worth nothing. Ten minutes are really sufficient, if one has the instinct for form. Who wants to wade through a dull volume? One tastes it, and that is quite enough-- more than enough, I should imagine.-Oscar WildeAlthough Blue Prince is rather insidious, in that you don't really feel the dogshit puzzle RNG until around the 4 hours mark, way past the refund period.
>>719529597TRUSTJOURNALISTS
One of those games where people seemed to enjoy the demo more than the full game. Turns out adding more just increased the RNG by a whole bunch lol
>>719530718He's quite good at puzzle games and was very organized using sheets with screenshots and all the info. I think he never did things like acing the classroom test and he looked online things like the gallery room puzzle and what happens if you get 100 stars, I think also some of the paintings puzzles.Anyways I hate how half of his content is ads for games he doesn't like
