NAZI (TM) here. Played through and finished The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood. Hm, where to begin. I could describe my experience playing it in one of two ways. Either going after the obvious cancer of the game's ideological cornerstones. Or, talking about the game itself. Which, is basically a digital novel. However I think the political issues and problems with the game can be summarized fairly quickly. It promotes diversity and acceptance while simultaneously excising scorn and derision. And, it's seemingly oblivious to this fact. You can pretty much define modern "Liberalism," and all of its many "issues" under this same ever present hypocrisy. There are winners and losers, but don't you dare stand against their framing of who is and isn't the preferred guest at the table. As for the game itself. You're promised an intricate story of magic and diverging choices, and have an oblique and vaguely defined magic system/conversation tree by which to engineer your objective within the world. This is largely true, but the escalation of your own supernatural ability ends up superseding causation within the world's setting inadvertently dissolving your earlier manipulations and social interactions rendering the ultimate outcome of the more nuanced and personal touches lost in a narrative tsunami of finality, which consumes the entirety of creation. In less fancy language, several decision at the end of the game override/erase earlier things you did or render them meaningless. Which, cheapens the game by a substantial amount. Now, for the fetishists, homosexuals, whatever I'm not sure if the pandering will actually hit home and make the game worth it for them. Because there's surprisingly little of it in the actual game itself. It's more like something that was thrown in as a nod and a wink to those invited to the dinner table much like the occasional off handed and bitter remark made about men was for those they openly scorn and hate. cont.
>>719538564Cont. But, again, there's so little of it as to almost just be another political check box rather than the core of the game. Which, is about a woman recovering from mental torture and political persecution. Which, is actually well done the few times it comes up (references to her torturing herself and regenerating her body with magic or despising her friends for not dying fighting for her) being two very interesting examples that unfortunately like everything else good in the game doesn't come up again. Instead, the game is largely a sequence of disjointed lore, disconnected conversations, and weirdly atmospheric exposition that never pays off.
I'm not reading your blog.
>>719538696TLDR it's not very good.
>playing obscure game you know won't like and won't agree with its message >turns out you don't like it and don't agree with its message What was the point of it?
>>719538564tl;dr
>>719539430It's important to study these things sometimes.
>>719539430I'm not afraid of things I don't agree with. Gave it a fair chance, and both its message and writing fell short. Music and art direction were both good. Gameplay fell short because it was tied so heavily to the writing, which didn't deliver on the central premise of shaping the outcome. Scarlet Hollow does the same thing (as do many other games), but much better.
