I personally map the 4 face buttons to B-Y-Z-C whilst X and A are L2 and R2
It's clearly that B has to be the main button because it's in the center

it's a bit of a clusterfuck, you may have some luck if you connect directly with bluetooth, rarely though, if you use a dongle you're stuck with weird configurations and have to adjust on a case to case basis

I've been playing emulated Gameboy Advance and DS games using a keyboard since forever. Hollow Knight or Silksong on keyboard is nothing.
