No actual jump scares, noises or anything, just letting your imagination run wild

consider yourself lucky for getting scared. many people here, myself included, are too jaded and get far less enjoyment out of the genre.

I usually play them at night but with the lights on, or at least the light in the next room. My lights are kinda dim anyway

Watch some IRL murders and you can start playing in the dark without being afraid of some spoopy video game monster

I play for fun. I'm a bit of a gore hound and I like seeing dismemberment. Reason I became a paramedic. I truly do like helping people but I also have a fascination with injuries and gore. I don't know how to describe it. I've seen limbs de sleeved from accidents and organs spilled out and I'll rush to help out but seeing exposed anatomy gives me a rush. Horror movies and horror games are my only real comfort zone.

Isn't moving further right just a natural process of growing up?
As a kid I couldn't even get past the intro of Dino Crisis I was so scared of the dinos, too scared to start the game itself up. Now I'm casually strolling past enemies in horror games and running circles around them.

I think what you're afraid of changes as you get older. I've had recurring nightmares about reaper leviathans from Subnautica, but I slept fine after playing through the entirety of Dead Space 1 and 2.
