I am sure endgame PvP and guild shit is a lot more fun than PvE, but you will be bound by real life time tables for guild events and raids and there is still no reason to play this when true singleplayer action or strategy games exist or fighting games or shooters if you are into competetive.

I never lasted over 5 hours playing any MMO. How do people enjoy these?
>>
They're social experiences, the gameplay is secondary
>>
nah, gachashit is
>>
>>719551996
Why not go on 4chan then instead of killing boars for 10 hours in braindead combat?
>>
>>719551815
mmo with ai bots is the future but unironically
>>
>>719551815
Gacha shit
Coomer shit
Phone games that are all some shitty paywall variation of clash of clans
Idle games
And maybe worst of all block chain games that require hundreds of dollars for pay2win garbage

You can do worse than mmos
>>
>>719551815
no because the golden age of MMOs (the 2000s) was the most fun I had in videogames
>>
>I never lasted over 5 hours playing any MMO
phone faggotry fried your brain.
>>

Oh boy, here we go.

>Tab target auto attack + facerolling the 1-9 keys combat
If you have somehow still bound those to 1-9 and facerolling them, then good job, I don't even know what you are doing? You are supposed to rebind them to more comofrtable positions, literally nobody is leaving them default, and nobody is facerolling, but following autistically calculated optimal rotations.
>Player skill does not matter. Whoever has the higher numbers wins
If this was true, there wouldn't have been unprecedented levels of gatekeeping from raiding guilds, you had to do applocations on par with literal job applications to get into a decent one.
>EXCRUCIATING boring grind
I guess? Some people like the grind, if you don't, don't play mmos, you know what you are getting yourself into at this point.
>Kill 100 boars quests
Literally hasn't been the case since vanilla wow. Now it's just go and talk to this NPC, maybe kill 3-4 mobs.
>Killing the same enemy over and over again for rare gear drops
Sounds comfy kino desu.
>The tank class that just exists to get its ass kicked
>The healerslut class is a thing
Yes? Your point?
>Overworld enemies are just clumped together in large groups
Depends on the MMO, and isn't that dissimilar to regular open world games?
>Most enemies are non-hostile by default and do not pose a real threat but are grind fodder
Okay, so?
>Slow healing between fights
Last time this was a thing was back in vanilla wow.
>"Dungeons" are just series of fights with no traps, hidden goodies or interesting exploration
So?
>Any indie MMO will lose 95% of its players after one month. Only large mainstream MMOs like WoW will survive long term.
Yes, that's how it is because MMOs are not for "normal" people who have a real social life and a job. So naturally not a lot of people are going to stay long term especially if the game is shit.
>No other players will defeat the entire point of an MMO.
Yes, so?

Getting too long so wrapping it up: ur a faget

>instead of killing boars for 10 hours you scroll past tripe garbage or literal shilloid ad threads until you stumble upon one that might maybe contain something interesting (90% chance it won't)

MMOs are terrible these days...but battle royales/MOBAs/extraction shooters/open world survival crafting games are far, far worse.

MMOs are shit because they're made by wagecucks hired by corporations to capture as wide as an audience as possible. Also, most mmos come out of korea and the K-gooks have the shittiest taste in everything; music, women, games
>>
>>719553424
All of this crap makes for a boring and unimmersive experience.
>>

No, not really.

>non korean mmos
>no actual combat, you just drag through your optimized cycle while your character swings in air and numbers appear
>difficulty only for the biggest retards, except there's always an even bigger retard in the group who can't even meet that standard
>all about the "social aspect" and "experiencing the world", meaning half the playerbase is likely transgender

Where can I found legendary """grind""" from those shitty zoomer bait threads in real MMO? Outside of f2p p2w korean games, the only MMOs where grind still exist are EVE, Albion and OSRS. And they're pretty much pvp games with full loot drop (even OSRS).
>>
>>719551815
>MMOs do not spark the adventure feel of something like Morrowind, Cyberpunk, Outward or even indie games like Monomyth.
This is a great point, I'm playing XIV rofht now and despite the world being beautiful there is 0 reason to interact with it outside of instances which everyone unlocks anyway
Like, there's no actual acploration, you follow a story that guides you to all the dungeons and side dungeons and that's it
>>
>>719557632
Fuck I should download EVE again... I love spaceships so much
>>
>>719557696
theres no reason to explore in any MMO
if there is something of note to find there will be 500 guides up within 24 hours telling you where to find it
and because everything of note will be instantly reported online it doesnt make sense to put anything super special "hidden" because it just becomes completely free anyway
This is the truth of MMOs
>>
>>719557696
FF14 is not an mmo its a shitty vn.

hardcore full loot pvp is the way to make an mmo.
experience loss on death, losing your valuables, etc, puts actual meaning to dying. you get an actual adrenaline rush from these games, but in PVE slop you just respawn and try again, over and over until your retard group doesnt fuck up some scripted mechanic.
>>
>>719557196
tab target MMOs typically have too many buttons. iirc i had anywhere between 30 and 50 depending on class. Runescape style is best, literally can play just with mouse. Simple = good.

I like GW1 limited skill design too. The idea to make "MTG but with skills" was genius. Up to this day GW and EVE are mmos with biggest amount of builds. I heard ESO uses similar idea but

why do you think all mmo's are tab target auto attack?
are you retarded?

I don't understand the hate for tab targetting. Pretty much all action games let you focus an enemy anyway.
>>
>>719557526
in wow I can use my imagination and pretend i'm actually inside a dungeon that I immersively traveled to, met some other players, and actually have value to them in fulfilling my role.

modern mmos forgot that, now it's about parsing and trannymogs
>>
The most crap genre is "boomer shooters" or Final Fantasy clones, WoW/FF raiding is objectively one of the most interesting gaming experiences you can possibly pay for.

No some of my best video game experiences were had in MMOs, the social dynamics when warring over resources, pvp and guild drama really is something special. You can't possibly know what you missed out on if you're a singleplayerfag and you never will.
>>
>>719566630
A followup to that post is that the best years of MMOs is long behind us, the train left the station. There's no way to get on it. If you were lucky enough to get on at the right time you're probably stuck in a loop chasing the dragon, You'll never catch it though, it's over.
>>
>>719566630

I dunno man, most interesting is a hell of a way to describe it. I've raided since ARR and every single tier I'd see a 'new' mechanic and immediately remember 'this is cruise chaser, this is lance charge, this is protean + explosion then pass allagan rot'. It gets old.
>>719566940
This might be true, but I'm holding out hope that devs just need to stop iterating on raidfaggotry and develop a slightly more complex combat system. CoH and GW1 had big ideas that lead to way more interesting group fights focused on crowd control and counterplay than the tank and spank dance floor bullshit we see patch after patch in these WoW-like shits.
>>
>>719567225
Adrenaline from fast action gameplay or getting outside a tight situation in a turn based game.
Not adrenaline from having to deal with a bunch of assholes.
>>
>>719567425
Sure it's a more nuanced set of emotions that all come together and give off a sense of meaning even though you're just playing a video game. Real people, real goals, real conflicts. It's not for nothing that some people substitute their entire life with WoW, it's one of the few virtual realities where that is actually possible, that means something.
>>
>>719567713
Just get a job in a call center or something.
Having real people goofing around and using modern language and meta terms doesn't really help immersion that much.
>>
>>719568067
I don't think you'll get it, you appear to be too much of a boring person.
>>

>>Tab target auto attack + facerolling the 1-9 keys combat
that's all it takes for me to pass on an MMO nowadays so I don't play MMOs. Love it or hate it New World has fun combat. Every MMO needs to adapt to action combat from now on
>>
>>719568535
You seem to like dealing with annoying people though so it's the perfect job for you.
