The reality of dinosaurs being purely hypothetical and their existence being mostly exaggerated. I would venture to say the vast majority of dinosaur "species" (as if we can define species solely with broken fossil records. The idea is comical.) never existed. There are a few exceptions like pic related where the fossil is nearly perfectly intact, but these are extremely rare.

I'm gonna blow y'all mind.
The hollywood dinosaurs are actually pretty realistic. But the WOKE left created the scientifically inaccurate feather-saurs to demoralize us. Because masculine dinosaurs are le bad. But the good news is that these "wokeasaurs" are not actually real. The T-Rex DID NOT have feathers, according to real scientists. Only leftist "scientists" larpers say that the wokeasaurus rex had feathers.

The only exception is velocirpators which did have a lot of feathers and were the size of chickens. But this was a deliberate choice by the directors of Jurassic Park because they thought the velocirpator was a cooler name than the deinonychus. So they took a deinonychus and called it a veliciraptor. Lol.
>>
>>719559247
there's always going to be some degree of speculation considering we're working from limited evidence
but the science part comes from how well educated the speculation is and how well you can defend it
>>
>>719559247
That's what most of Paleontology is. Studying what we can find with the tools that we have, drawing a conclusion, and later hoping that advancements in technology will either reconfirm our earlier work or lead to a new discover.

What, in the 60's or something? As early as the 90's it was portrayed as being a terrifyingly powerful monster.

No? Current science indicates it was a slow scavenger with feathers which voted for Joe Biden (so should you next election!) and that it promoted immigration in dinosaur communities.

op is a bait image
mostly these days T. Rex is depicted as being less shrinkwrapped than JP depicts, mostly in having immense neck muscles, and generally having powerful muscles all over it's body that give it somewhat of a chonkier appearance at first glance

but that's just how a fair amount of incredibly strong animals end up looking, you can see it easily in bears which are ridiculously strong animals

>>719554937
But you DO know that 99.9% of the dinosaurs just died and their whole genetic line was cut short right? The only 0.1% of dinosaurs that actually survived were just the little tiny ones which evolved into birds right?

So 99.9% of the dinosaurs are not actually related to birds. Because they all died so how can they be the ancestors of birds if they got wiped out? Only the small 0.1% of dinos that survived are the "bird dinos."

The T-Rex having feathers theory is actually scientifically inaccurate and it's based on a miscommunication when scientists said that birds came from the dinosaurs that survived the extinction, which was just tiny little rat like dinosaurs and little shits of that nature. Lol.
>>
>>719560318

>Most scientists agree an adult T-Rex did not have feathers, or did not have greater than a few lol.
T-Rex, as far as we have uncovered, seems to mostly have had the sort of single strand, or stringy style of protofeathers, and it's mostly centered around their backs and heads, more like a fine fur than what we might think of as feathers. Given that we've only found evidence of them on some specimines, it's unclear if the structures fall out as they grow or if they molt them in some fashion.
A lot of the feathery T-Rex depictions are by people that pretty much just read that some dinosaurs had feathers, and went with it. Turns out just random artists on the internet aren't who you should look at to see what paleontologists are actually saying.
That being said, people act like large birds aren't fucking terrifying. Just look at fucking cassowarys or emus.

You should take comfort in the fact that raptors with feathers may very well be a psyop, then.
Literally the only proof Velociraptor has feathers is one heavily eroded bone shard that SUGGESTS they could have had quill knobs. Everything else concerning feathered raptors comes from you trusting what chink countries have to say. Chink countries that are known to lie about and things to look better, might I add.

>>719563092
this is such a misleading title
the answer to this is a rather obvious "no, T. Rex avoided battles to the death" because as a predator it'll avoid anything resembling a fair fight to the full extend of it's abilities

T. Rex like any predator worth their salt would prefer to quickly strike at the back of the neck of a Triceratops killing or disabling it outright from ambush and if that failed, would more than likely back down and find an easier target

Still means T. Rex was one of the primary predators of Triceratops

Same with say humans, gorillas, and lizards. Putting aside the wealth of scientific evidence because of course they have their reasons for not believing that, I just do not understand the common sense argument for creationism. Evolution seems like the common sense explanation to me, for why there appears to be a spectrum of differences and similarities between species, just as there is within a species.

Crocodiles don't fit in with other reptiles cleanly, they're archosaurs. Which is a distinct lineage so that they're not even particularly closely related to things like lizards.
Birds are also archosaurs.
Dinosaurs were archosaurs, as well.
We also know that birds were direct descendants of a certain lineage of dinosaurs.

Now we have to make a determination.
Crocodiles are cold blooded. Birds are warm blooded.
At some point, dinosaurs made the transition from one to the other.
The common belief right now is that this happened quite early on, at least for theropod dinosaurs, which is the lineage that led to birds.
So this may mean that dinosaurs have behavior patterns and energy levels closer to birds than crocodiles or lizards.

What is also a common belief, is that in many lineages, traits that we observe on birds, like feathers, started appearing pretty early.
We think this because another group of dinosaur relatives and other archosaurs, pterosaurs, have feathery filaments from the earliest fossils we've gotten access to. Which are very similar to the filaments we find on the dinosaurs that we know evolved into birds.
This encourages a belief that these filaments might be ancestral to dinosaurs and perhaps their cluster of relatives, and that crocodiles as mostly aquatic animals might be the odd ones out.
This is reinforced by this fairly early herbivorous dinosaur, who wasn't an ancestor of birds, having feathers (Kulindadromeus). Which means that, either, dinosaurs evolved feathers twice in unrelated lineages. Or that these feathers were there from the start.

there was no ice age following it per se, it was still warm, the paleogene was even warmer than the cretaceous after all, photosynthesis just became impossible for a long enough while

they also escaped the immediate heat by diving underwater and their eggs being buried quite deep

they were also adapted to hypoxic conditions and could lower their metabolism

there was also a massive brown food web going on, fed purely by refuse and carcasses which tended to concentrated in river mouths near coasts, aka perfect crocodilian territory

dinosaurs couldn't hide from the initial heat due to the return ejecta tended to not bury their eggs (outside of sauropods, but at that time all medium size sauropods had died out in favor of the enormous titanosaurs which due to obvious reasons couldn't survive mass plant die-off) and had drastically more active metabolisms so they couldn't last through prolonged periods of starvation

also interesting to note is that the majority of birds that survived were sea birds or flat out semi-aquatic

None of that shit is hidden information. It's all shit scientists freely admit. Just because pop culture adopts a certain belief about something doesn't mean there's a conspiracy. Just look at how much people memed string theory while actual scientists knew it was bullshit.

I think anon is trying to say their ancestors had feathers, but they didn't. Which is true. There's no solid case for believing Trex's had feathers. Terror birds are kinda cool anyway tbqwyfam

The main character gets burned alive and the girl sits on his smoked sausage before he dies, so he has a kid. Supposedly they're working on a season 3 but it does not follow his kid for some reason.

>people say modern science only makes dinosaurs lamer
>modern paleontologists not only proved that quetzalcoatlus could in fact fly, it could fly incredibly well and it could get airborne incredibly easy by launching itself

if modern paleontology says that there were flying giraffe sized apex predators with a beak large enough to swallow a man whole, how can it be lame?

Definitely one of the reasons I hyper fixated on dinosaurs so much as a kid.
Scared the shit out of me in some sequences but I still really enjoyed it, and I think that's the sign of a pretty good kids movie.
