I haven't played any of the games and I have no idea where to start. Can any of you guys help me out?(I'd prefer to emulate one of the older games rather than buy any of the newer ones.)
>>719566579play 7, 8 and 9 in any order (7 is the best, i would start with it)the rest aren't worth the time
6 through 9 are the best in the series and, as you probably already know, are all self contained continuities so you can start with any of them. 7 being "the best" is the common opinion, but only in the same way people think Ocarina of Time is "the best Zelda". It's really up to debate but people just agree with it since thats the what everyone says
>>719566579Good: 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, TacticsMaybe: 1, 8, 9, 12Rest aren't worth it
6 is the best one to start with
>>719566579>FF1Obvious choice, if a bit archaic and unforgiving. If you're used to old school RPGs it might suit your tastes.>FF4Introduces you to most of the classic FF classes through actual characters, plus it lays the mechanical foundation for most games in the series>FF6Arguably one of the best games in the franchise, can't go wrong with it>FF7A somewhat conceptual reboot and the starting point for many, though the visuals can be a bit too dated for some.>FF9It's the classic FF experience but in 3D!It's kinda slow though and the story might not be as gripping as some of the other games.>FF10Much more railroaded and simplistic than its predecessors so if you don't want something overwhelming it might suit you, also it obviously has much better production values being a PS2 game.Just make sure you actually play the PS2 version and not the demaster.
I've only played the 2d ones, 1, 4, 5 and 6 are good.2 and 3 are a bit weird.
>>719566765>>719566954>>719567004>>719567126>>719567347Alright, I guess I'll start from 4 and work my way up to 10. I'll probably play FF1 if I ever get around to playing MOTHER.Thanks, anons!
>>719567126Oh yeah also>FF1Play either the NES or PS1 versions, further ports and remakes just turn the game into a button masher.>FF4Play the SNES version with the Namingway Rom Hack>FF6Vanilla SNES version>FF7Vanilla PS1 version>FF9Vanilla PS1 version>FF10Vanilla PS2 version
>>719566579Depends on where your preferences lie. What you want to get out of it, it's a long running franchise that evolved quite a bit over time.FF6 through 9 is generally seen as the golden age of FF, with 8 probably being the only contentious one out of those.I'd recommend 6, 7, 9 and if you like those you expand further from there.
>>719566579If you want a classic experience with focus on party and class building, try 5If you want classic with more focus in story, try 4If you want essential, try 7If you want something a bit more "modern" try 10My favourite is 6.KKDMT
>>719566579Like any other series, ALWAYS PLAY THE ORIGINAL RELEASES IN RELEASE ORDER
>>719566579I'd probably play 7 and then 6. I suggest that order because 7 has a very strong opening, 6 takes a while to really hook you imoOther than those two i don't really care much for the series. I like the 7 remake games but obviously you can't emulate those
Tactics Ivalice is out. Should OP start with it maybe? Haven't played it myself (because Silksong is coming out)
