What are some obscure old games that you've played and never really see anyone talk about?
I feel like the fifth and sixth generation consoles have alot of these quirky games which all did pretty poorly but you only ever hear about ones like Katamari.

I feel like nobody really talk about Loop Hero, and it's a really unique feeling fake Idle game.

What do you do in this game? I have vague memories of terraforming with no real objective and dropping it.

For me it is Tail of the Sun. Only the manual gives your objective but i still love it. Awesome caveman game that reminds of chibi robo in an abstract way.

I've wondered why Freedom Force, 1+2, is mentioned so infrequently.
It has fun characters, fun combat, great atmosphere, you can make your own hero in-game, plenty of modding opportunities, it's got good writing, the whole thing is the best example of a video game using silver age comics style ever...
But nobody brings either game up. Fuck, you'd at least expect /v/ to bring up the loli fish-girl once in a while, but nope.

Ground Control
Played it back when it was just released and loved it. I still have the guidebook for it.
It has 180 reviews on Steam right now. That's incredibly low for a great game like this.

I wanted to like Loop Hero, but I just don't think there's enough interesting things to do with your cards.
There needed to be many more combinations you could do when plopping down terrain.

Amazing game. No other game like it. >>719573760
I will check it out even though this style of game is not my jam. Heard enough good things to get over that.

Gonna post Xanadu Next. Somehow got its hooks in me as a Diablo dungeon crawl. Stupid and have to grind but good.

Be warned that it takes a while to get going. One of the biggest drawbacks is that the devs apparently really wanted you to get the story from the start so it's told through missions where you have limited heroes and limited powers.
It gets much better once you've gotten more heroes on your team and can start making interesting decisions, who to bring to a mission, how to level them up, etc.
You just need to get past those first few missions.

Steam? GOG? Secret third option?

Dunno if there's any difference.

Neat, 2.50 on GOG for both games.
