The next Xbox will at $1200 but the OEMs using the same APU won't while also being as expensive as the damn console. Microsoft somehow thinks this will be able to go against Valve's Steam Machine 2 and Steam Deck 2 in their fight to push XboxOS over SteamOS. It's over for Xbox.

But then she got laid off and I felt childlike joy, my 50k dev job might not be much, but it's honest and there's a less than 1% chance of getting laid off since we're so integral to the companies in my area.

Price is irrelevant. You could buy a 500$ console and a 2000$ Sony Bravia TV and or a 1000$ PC with a 200$ 144hz monitor
You could pay less on console by not buying day 1 or pay more on PC by buying day 1

There's no obsession, everyone knows PlayStation and Xbox ruined gaming, seeing them both trip over and fall on their faces is funny. Your days are numbered. Exclusives were the only things keeping your dead systems alive. You have nothing now. 3, 2, 1. Here comes GTA 6 out your mouths.

Last Xbox had games was the 360, and the team behind it was doing their absolute best to snub people making games in favor of chasing shitty trends. They never had a chance.
>>
>>719582859
Idk man it's genuinely the best cost efficient way to play games, especially xbox that constantly gets shit on funnily enough.

Like I just spend $15 in gamepass ultimate a year, to play like 20+ games in the same time frame.

I just read about Playstation and Nintendo getting their games to $90-80 and I know I will never pay that much for their slop.

PC has good discounts on games, but an equivalent to a SeX or Playstation 5 (that are already outdated) is at like $1500, it's just ridiculously high, not to mention developers always let the jets made the shitty ports + things like denuvo, make performance in PC rather poor and annoying
>>

Yes winning, Did you know that even with everything you listed regarless if its true or false, People keep buying PlayStations on the same pace as the PS4, gaining completely new users every year faster than Xbox & PC while breaking 31 billion in revenue?

The only way i can be proven false is if Valve lets open the floodgates in China and suddenly their 40% Chinese audience of 140Million MAU suddenly becomes 80% of 300Million MAU
>Not even third party companies believe that anymore. High prices will kill the PlayStation.
Sony has brand momentum. They could be and are currently fucking up yet people are still buying their consoles and full price games for them.
Sony could make a 999$ console with an optional 200$ disc drive and 100$ games yet hunreds of millions of people would still eat it up, just at less frequent rates.
The only way Sony could be dethroned or have its playerbase chipped or taken away would be if some Chinese competior mae a console that offered superior Value.
I don't care about your steam dick and deckard and RTX 5090s. The majority of people don't care. Including a large chunk of Steam users who have it installed on their laptop to play old games.
>>
>>719589836
Microsoft wants you to spend $1200 for backwards compatibility, there's also another catch. Don't expect to be able to play every Xbox One game from 2013-2019 because those games weren't made in Microsoft's Game Development Kit like Xbox One games from 2020-current.

Reminder, the PS5 sales are inflated due to the PSVR2 and PS Portal which Sony counts as PS5, they will try and do the same for the PS6 and its handheld companion, same strategy Microsoft uses with the Xbox Series because they know this thing is selling like shit.
>>
>>719590534
Also, most of the PS5 sales are also shipped, not sold
>>
>>719590308
Maybe the PS6 Pro. but not the standard one unless they want to ruin the first year sales like the Switch 2
>PS6 having similar specs to the Pro but faster.
PS5 Pro is a low volume product that's made to profit instead of selling at a loss. That's the crucial difference. 800 dollar consoles are not sold at a loss.
>KeplerL2 is more accurate than MLID will ever be in his lifetime.
I don't care about neither of them and i will believe the leaks when i see them officially
>Are you a chink?
No but atleast 27% of Steam's userbase is, probably more if you consider the amount of people setting their language to english. Steam doesn't have 30% of its users from anglophone countries.

>Xbox PCs
So Microsoft is going to have 2 handheld Windows PCs made by Asus, Xbox prebuilt PCs, and their own Xbox PC that will likely be $1,200 minimum. So they have surrendered the console space to PlayStation completely and are going to just make PCs with the Xbox interface on them (the one used on their handhelds probably).

I don't really get it, but then again Microsoft's goal isn't so much hardware as it is getting Gamepass and their games in as many hands as possible. I'll just congratulate Sony now on winning yet another generation by doing nothing.

They need to make it, even if there's no demand for it. Their gaming revenue is dependant on Game Pass, and 95% of Game Pass subs are Xbox users. Personally, I think that the decision to allow third party storefronts is Microsoft laying the groundwork for a Sony lawsuit, so they can get Game Pass on Playstation.

Hey guys. I was just at Walmart the other day and I thought I'd check the prices of televisions again.
So before the tarrif stuff hit I was thinking about getting a 55inch 4K hisense and on sale it was going to be around $280. And I thought. Wow that's a good price for that television, but I never got one since I don't have the space ready for it yet.
So I went to walmart recently to check out the prices. They still had that same line of televisions for sale and it was about 30 dollars cheaper than before the tariff BS.

Do they mean no backward compatibility as in you can't put in your Xbox Series or Xbox One game discs directly into the system? I feel like not even MS would be stupid enough to not have ANY means of backward compatibility at all. I'm banking on them reopening their backward compatibility program thing and coughing up more money to get more games on there so any device that can run the Xbox app can have access to Xbox/360/One/Series as well.

If they REALLY are going to go the "no backward compatibility at all, sorry :( " route, it's over. They aren't beating Steam with that shit.

Just some history, the reason why Xbox even exists is because PlayStation scared Microsoft shitless. They strongly believed Sony with the PlayStation would eat into and eventually devour the PC market (thus meaning Microsoft loses lots of money) so they made the DirectXbox ("Xbox") as a result. Now that it's very apparent console will have no effect on PC sales at all and are actually doing worse over time, Microsoft is now going after Steam.

tl;dr Microsoft couldn't care less about consoles, they've always been about protecting PC and, as a result, their biggest market and cashflow stream. PlayStation isn't a threat to that anymore, Steam is.
>What about smartphones
As long as they have the Xbox app on the App Store and Play Store, they probably think they're OK. Especially since they are still investing in Xbox Cloud Gaming which they still qualify as in beta. Once that's going, there's going to be a pretty big push on playing Xbox on your iPhone and Android phones as part of their "Xbox Anywhere" strategy. At least that's what I feel.

I hate this company so much, it's going to be funny watching them lose harder and faster than they already did with consoles. It's going to be a complete bloodbath. They only lasted this long in console gaming because of exclusives, without that, they have no way of beating Steam and its upcoming first-party Steam exclusives along with their lower prices for Valve hardware and back catalog and PC exclusives.
The problem is that if everyone else is doing it, Microsoft no longer has a space to enter. Entering console gaming was a once and a lifetime event for them, it's never going to happen again. Market is too crowded now.

Dropping exclusives was a death sentence.

How would (you) have salvaged Xbox after the xbone launch?
>>
>>719598454
>after the xbone launch?
that killed the brand forever. there's no coming back from stripping away ownership from the goyim
granted, ps5 and xsex did it too, but that was after the last remaining bits of the medium were scraped away to make room for casual mouthbreathers

the Series S is the best console ever. You buy a $200 brand new console with a controller and 3 months of game pass ultimate included that you can disconnect from the internet and play your downloaded games forever. All in a very aesthetically pleasing little box.
$200 doesn't even cover half the cost of a graphics card for a PC to play at the same graphical performance.

bro it's dead just focus on pc

They aren't playing that game. Xbox is effectively transforming into a full digital ecosystem which is how they plan on moving forward. What Microsoft wants is to ensure Windows isn't going anywhere, Azure is baked into everything, people are giving them money by playing their games/using their software services and they can be the first ones to make cloud gaming into a big deal. If MS were trying to compete with Steam there'd be no reason to release every single game they have on Steam save for Halo Wars 2. They have much bigger plans and I think Xbox just plays a part in the bigger scope for Microsoft as a whole.

If anything they are looking at the widespread adoption of Android and iOS and with Google supposedly axing Chrome OS soon for "Android OS", that shit is going to be much scarier to them since it lines Google up to be able to knock out Windows. Especially since they are already eating into them in education P-12 and Gemini is arguably more recognized and used than Copilot. If Microsoft lets Android OS go unchallenged once it hits actual desktops/laptops it might be the end of Windows dominance. The best way to really do that is to crack into gaming, and Google has the Play Store while Microsoft has their weak MS Store by comparison. Meaning they have the ability to bring in all the people who play games on their phones right to their laptops/desktops and pick right up from their Roblox or whatever Play Store game from their phone right there on their laptop/desktops. All through Google services and Google cloud infrastructure, not Microsoft. I personally think Google is the bigger threat to Microsoft.
>Apple
Not with Timcomptent Cook. He can't even get AI right after Apple has Siri for years.

I'll be honest with. If PCs still let me get physical copies, i wouldn't touch consoles. But they dont, so i no longer play new shit on pcs.

The most infuriating part about this is knowing that all the product manager Jon really is, is a small amount of data entry and then moving those entries from ome column to another in jira.

It's powerful but it's worse for backwards compatibility than the One X.
That other guy is also right that M$ further fucked this generation with the Series S.
M$ fucks up everything it touches. It's a terrible company. I'd sell the console if GTA 6 was releasing for PC when it comes to consoles. There's just zero reason for me to play modern console games anymore. My PC is far superior and I barely have to actually buy any of the games.
>>
>>719582985
because their games aren't exclusives anymore. All you have to do is wait a couple of years at most and it'll come out on pc

>I think that the decision to allow third party storefronts is Microsoft laying the groundwork for a Sony lawsuit, so they can get Game Pass on Playstation.
I wonder if the epic v apple lawsuit would apply to this somehow.

2015 was the last good year for gaming so you don't need anything beyond what can run those games at high settings.

Also most of those games were not designed with Ray tracing in mind anyway. So you don't even need Ray tracing.

Most likely you'll need a 3060-3070 with 8gb of ram.

Honestly I'm surprised apple hasn't made a proper gaming computer for 600$. They have an army of the best engineers in the world.

Cloud Gaming will never be big and if it is, it won't be from Microsoft, that's for sure.
>>
>>719582859
consolefags are the biggest coping retards on the internet. they make up some bullshit about how they are "le cheaper" and ignore the fact games are $70 USD plus tip and you have to pay to use your own internet.
>>
>>719582461
If it allows steam I will not buy one. Anyone that has had a steam account should be killed.
>>
>>719582859
Like you PCFags aren't any different.. i gotta buy the new gpu for $1800+ for "muh graphics" and $200 for the 1200w psu to power it - and for what another 5-15fps.. ooh, take that consoles.
>>
>>719593268
2025 is funny because it's like they went:

ok let's give the annoying white boys something I guess UGHGHHHHH
>>
>>719593268
Man, this gen has just been fucking awful.
>>
>>719582461
Why exactly did Microsoft and Sony give up on trying with their consoles? There is absolutely no reason to get one when there is no exclusives, they don't do anything to make the most of specialized hardware, and they are getting more expensive than a computer with the same or better performance. Why even continue to release this shit if they are not going to try?

So don't buy the new gpu. Go fucking find a RX6600 for less than 200. It's still perfect for anything 1080p with out raytracing.
You just don't know much about computers. Granted 90% of the people here don't.
>>
>>719590534
kek not only that's bullshit but those two pieces of shit didn't sell a combined 5 million units between them so even if sony counted that as ps5 sales, which they don't, it would be literally irrelevant
>>
>>719582461
I don't understand why anyone would want a next-gen console at this point. Even if it brute forces current bad optimization practices, it'll just lead to even less optimization since that's all new tech does nowadays.
