Is this underrated gem actually one of the best J-Action/Character Action games?
what does it mean to be a good character action game
>>719586687I want to fuck wonder pink
>>719586687If anything it was overratedI bought it for Wii U when it came out, it was underwhelming IMO
No. The actual levels can be pretty bad which you won’t see on here since everyone just posts clipbait combat encounters. Bosses are great tho
>>719586687>J-Action( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yeah
>>719586687It's slightly overrated actually (though still quite good). It's generally slower than its betters; the enemies aren't mobile, or numerous enough to deal with your moveset and they aren't nearly as ruthless as God Hand's or NG2's or KH2's (where regular mooks will end you fast in packs); the continue/checkpoint system is broken (you can beat the game on any difficulty by button mashing, no joke), and the Morphs have too few attacks (that could be more differentiated), all use the same base moveset (though it's done better than in Bayonetta); the choices are somewhat generic (it's fairly typical Kamiya) and aren't as relatively useful compared to each other as in better Platinum/Clover titles, ignoring the problems of the shmup/platforming/robot punching sections. The bosses levels are gimmicky, and they went a little overboard with collectibles/locking away secret characters (you shouldn't have to play on Easy to get Vorken).Big has virtually no disadvantages, stomps everything but spikes with zero thought required, and can even be helpful for ranking. When Bomb Attack Liner works, there is no reason to use anything else. 2/3's of Gun's transformations are pretty pointless, and the third doesn't outdamage Gun Cyclone. Chewgi and Immorta are for Big, Goggles is worthless, and Bomb, while neat, may as well be a one Skill Morph. Hammer is certainly viable, but its purpose as a meh damage slow weapon with little utility evades me. Whip and Claws are in the very-good-but-why-not-use-Hand-category. Drill is strictly for combo points, which in many cases is done better by juggling or Bomb exploits.Vanquish is the best Platinum game, and also the most underrated.
>>719586687Absolute shit, thank God it has a demo
>>719586687I've been playing it for the first time recently, but the battery reliance and constant loss of your whole team when you get hit is dragging it down for me
>>719586767So she has a good personality or what?
>>719586687Decent gameplay completely ruined by the constant mobile game tier interruptions made for ADHD ridden retards. I just want to play the fucking game but the game doesn't let me play it in peace.
>>719586687It's okay. Fairly unique systems that are fun but with pretty noticeable flaws. Its uniqueness is such that it sort of kills possibility of it being anything other than a cult classic. For a few more specifics: The enemies are fairly unimpressive, and are rarely in interesting configurations. The only ones worth that are difficult at all are the Grace and Glory ripoffs, and they tend to be more annoying than fun. Most bosses are extremely shallow and basically just a contextual simon says fest, held up by cool QTE scenes. The tendency of later enemies to pop your morph whenever you hit them wrong really makes the combat pacing feel bad, and ends up encouraging multiple degenerate or boring strategies. And the game has a tendency through its levels to constantly move into mini games all the time that are almost all less fun than the base gameplay.
>>719586687It's called Stylish Action and yes.
>>719586687I consider it the best 7/10 game you'll ever play.
>>719586687I'm still amazed how near 100% of people who wanted it backed it on kickstarter and after that pretty much no one new bought the ports.
>>719588047>and are rarely in interesting configurations. This is probably my one big gripe with the game. I always kind of assumed that they designed the game around the assumption that players would constantly be struggling with the controls, so they generally go pretty easy on you with the enemy set ups to let you deal with that. But once you get gud there are very few encounters that can kick your ass purely because it's a combination of enemies that synergize in a challenging or interesting way. Those multiplayer levels are honestly kind of underrated for this reason, they're balanced are more players and they end up being a pretty fun challenge because of what you have to deal with on your own.
>>719586687I dunno, i haven't played it because i didn't like DMC, Viewtiful Joe, Okami or Bayonetta despite purchasing all of them and trying for countless hours to force myself to enjoy them.
