How do big name demons work in SMT series and its spin-offs? Are they separate entities or it's the same guy having a giggle across the worlds?
>>719590924idk, but I just beat Beelzebub in SMTVV last night and his theme slaps fr frhttps://youtu.be/onHCdjhlZ2c?si=iIiv5R8rXXRkv_gy
>>719590924Its a different entity each time, but some of them have gained self awareness as they go through iterations of the matrix.
>>719590924Multiverse, so seperate entities
>>719590924It's a little of both. Demons are defined by human perception, they can't change by themselves. Different instances of a demon are individuals and usually they say something like I'm lending you a part of my power when it's like a big time story demon that isn't joining your party but is letting you summon them. I would consider that literal, the true form of demons are the energies of creation and natural phenomenon, so the idea that you get a piece of that particular energy makes sense.
>>719591492hell yeah it does. Once the battle started I stopped there to listen for a bit and once I finished the game I added it to my playlist. Mara's theme is quite cool as well:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oub__f7kb10
>>719590924The way demons work in SMT is that they're beings from the realm of human imagination. Beelzebub isn't THE Beelzebub from Hell. He's the human concept of Beelzebub that has been summoned from the collective subconscious. The whole thing started because Steven was fucking around with his teleporter invention and happened to tune it to the same wavelength as the collective human subconscious. So technically every instance of the demon even within an individual game is a different entity.
>>719591827fucking Steven, always materializing Beelzebub from the collective subsconcious.
>>719591827That is literally only how SMT4 works. Its different in the other games.
>>719591827Only in 4A, because they went heavy into the concept of humanity warping the ideas of several gods over history. Other SMT games have not done this.
>>719592083>>719592076Earlier games imply it but never go all the way with it. With some games, like SJ, downright contradicting it.
>>719591827I don't think it's correct to say it isn't really Beelzebub. Beelzebub is the lord of hell and all that jazz, he is defined by humans but his actions and mythology are real.
>>719591827I thought that was just in Persona, and the demons in SMT are literal.
>>719592126>Earlier games imply itNo, that's a retroactive interpretation that didn't exist until 4A seeded that idea.
>>719591827Somehow I doubt that Beelzebub being a megidolaon spamming asshole was within the realm of human imagination.
>>719592076That's how it is in all the SMTs, including Persona. The teleporter incident is described in the first game.
>>719592126>With some games, like SJ, downright contradicting it.But the schwarzwelt reflects the human subconscious too.
>>719592126No they dont ever imply it. You are using flawed deductive reasoning to cram the whole series into the confines of SMT4 like all the “I came in at SMT4” retards do. You are just as obnoxious as the Persona 4 fags who got into through the anime.
>>719592223Except it literally isnt. Persona is also totally different because on top of all the ways it’s separate from SMT, its from the Raidou timeline where the gods literally don’t exist anymore causing the if/Devil Summoner timeline split. In the SMT1/2 timeline, it’s explicitly the real gods. They never, not once talk about observation
>>719592193Persona is in the same multiverse as SMT, games in the Devil Summoner series are even set in the exact same world and timeline as the persona games too. I don't think it really matters either way though, each game just does whatever it wants with the plot and lore.
>>719590924SMT demons always have that weird feeling like they are digital monsters following their code. You can just summon/download tons of the same demon that all share the same knowledge.
>>719591827>collective subconsciousIt's real.
>>719591827https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_magic
dont open
I feel like beezlebub is probably real
>>719593094Friendly reminder that Persona Users utterly mog Devil Summoners as well.
>>719596551Devil summoners are better fighters.Persona users are just high school kids.
>>719595243THE JONKLER?
>>719591827>The way demons work in SMT is that they're beings from the realm of human imagination. This is only the case in IV. There is no such thing as observation across worlds. In V they explicitly tell you demons and gods came first and made humans.
>>719598703Not like 5 is connected to other games.
>>719590924they seem to be different entities outside of SMT1 to 2, which are directly connected to each other.
>>719598343tbf other than P1/P2, can personas even do anything IRL? P3/P4/P5 makes it feel more like mental damage rather than physical and it's not like Izanagi can just outright bust you in the face.
>>719598343Devil Summoner are actual respectable people who carry their duty their entire lifetime, sometimes through multiple generations like the Kuzunoha while Persona users return to being regular people the moment the big bad is killed.I think it'd be cool if P6 had a Yusuke like dude who's really enjoying the thrill who would object at returning to their regular life.
>>719596551persona users are literally worthless outside of their realms of having power, in P3 that's the dark hour, in P4 the TV world and P5 the metaverse. devil summoners are walking around with real weapons in the real world summoning real demons. P1/2 cast could hang with summoners, and while I haven't finished P2 you do work with summoners via the Kuzonoha detective agency
Are there any post SMT2 games that go all in on the gritty post apocalyptic futuristic setting? SMT3 felt like a huge downgrade in that department.
>>719598740It is but they specifically tell you Nocturne and IV are separate worlds from IV. In fact in Dagda's quest they tell you he will never have knowledge or another half because that's not how the world he came from works.
>>719599954DDS?
>>719600006>worlds from IVMeant to say worlds from V
>>719599954Smt IV and IV:A
>>719599954DDS is probably the closest yes. Imagine if you can handle MMOs although it's not really that gritty feeling. actually fuck it majin tensei 2 as well
>>719598491 He’s real. I saw him in my comp, just sitting there next to Pixie and Jack Frost, grinning like an idiot. Tried fusing him and the game hard crashed. I think I astral projected.
>>719591492Kek. I was just about to post this, but you beat me to it. I love how retro it sounds.
