Why do people bitch endlessly about Crash 1's save system but this gets a pass despite being much worse?

You beat most of a world and are rewarded a save before the boss. There's nothing weird about it.
Crash requires you do to something weird like find all the collectibles in a stage.

In DKC, you have to beat an entire world worth of levels in between saves (latter half of first world and former half of second world, so one full world basically), and you have very limited opportunities to earn lives. Game over mean all that progress (6+ stages) lost.

Crash gives you saves almost every other level as well as ample lives and easy farming for more lives. The only requirement is finding the three crates for the bonus stage, (almost none of which are particularly hidden) encouraging you to actually explore and engage with the level. Even if you do miss one, the presence of even a single bonux box clues you in, and you can just replay the level being more thorough.

I hate all the stupid minigames to earn lives in DKC, it kills the flow and pacing. In Crash you just destroy boxes along the way while exploring the level, it feels much more seamless.
